Australia sealed a superb 162-run victory over hosts South Africa in the first Test match at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.

Chasing in excess of 450 for an unlikely win, the Proteas were never fancied by betting experts, being bowled out for 291 in their second innings.

Mitchell Johnson led the way for the Baggy Greens with four wickets, while Peter Siddle picked up three to ensure the Aussies gained revenge for a recent series loss on home soil to South Africa.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's tour of Pakistan has been cancelled after terrorists attacked the tourists' bus on the way to the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Sri Lanka had been on their way to the ground for the third day of the second Test match when the terrorists struck, leaving at least five policemen dead and seven members of the visiting squad requiring treatment.

Chaminda Vaas, Mahela Jayawardene, Thilan Samaraweera, Ajantha Mendis, Tharanga Paranavitana, Kumar Sangakkara and Suranga Lakmal were the players in question, with coach Paul Farbrace also sustaining injuries.

The International Cricket Council have already called off the remainder of the tour, with the Sri Lanka squad expected to head home at the earliest possible opportunity.

The fourth Test match between the West Indies and England at the Kensington Oval in Barbados petered out to a tame draw, with the tourists batting out the final day for the loss of just two wickets.

Trailing by 149 runs after the first innings, England declared on 279-2 to bring an early end to play, with Alastair Cook having registered his first century in 28 innings to ward off the threat of defeat.

The teams now head to Trinidad for the fifth and final Test, with the Windies holding a 1-0 lead in the series.

In Napier, India won a rain-affected first ODI against New Zealand by 53 runs, with skipper MS Dhoni playing a starring role.

India racked up 273-4 from 38 overs after batting first, with Dhoni smashing an unbeaten 84 from 89 balls.

In reply the Black Caps could only manage 162-9 from 28 overs before more showers brought an early end to the game.
