Adam Glichrist blasted the Deccan Chargers into the final of the Indian Premier League as his side brushed aside the Delhi Daredevils to become cricket betting favourites for the title.

Batting first at Centurion Park the Daredevils made 153-8 from their 20 overs, with Tillakaratne Dilshan the main contributor with 65 from 51 balls faced.

However, that total proved to be nowhere near enough as former Australia great Gilchrist smashed ten fours and five sixes in making 85 from a mere 35 deliveries.

The Chargers eventually eased home with just over two overs to spare, meaning they will now face the winners of the second semi-final between the Chennai Super Kings and the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Northampton Saints won the final of the European Challenge Cup 15-3 against Bourgoin, securing a place in next season's Heineken Cup in the process.

A tough encounter at the Twickenham Stoop saw several flare-ups between the two sides, with the French outfit having Jean-Philippe Genevois sent off in the closing stages.

Saints led 9-3 at the interval thanks to three Stephen Myler penalties, with Bourgoin's lone reply a Morgan Parra penalty, with the French scrum-half and Neil Best both sin-binned following a major scuffle.

After the break Myler was on-target with two more penalties to make sure of the victory, with Bourgoin suffering the loss of Parra following a heavy tackle from Courtney Lawes.

Lawes was then the victim of a swinging punch from Genevois, who was dismissed by referee George Clancy to complete Bourgoin's misery.

In rugby league, St Helens maintained their grip at the top of the Super League table with a 22-12 victory at home to Harlequins RL.

Saints ran in four tries, with Chris Flannery and Paul Wellens, James Roby and Keiron Cunningham all going over, while Sean Long added three goals to make sure of victory.

Hull KR strengthened their grip on second place with a hard-fought 16-6 win over Castleford Tigers.

Rovers led 4-0 at the interval, before Shaun Briscoe touched down twice in the second period to secure the victory.

Warrington Wolves moved level on points with Wigan following a 16-8 victory over the Warriors.

The home side were behind at half-time at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, but second-half touchdowns from Chris Riley and Michael Monaghan meant that the visitors left empty-handed.

Bradford Bulls' woeful campaign continued as they were beaten 18-10 by Salford City Reds at The Willows.

The visitors led 4-0 at half-time, but were undone by tries from Stuart Littler, Mark Henry, Luke Adamson in an action-packed 11 second-half minutes.

At golf's PGA Championships, England's Paul Casey leads by two shots at the halfway stage, with reigning champion Miguel Angel Jimenez one of five men two shots behind on six under par.

At tennis' Austrian Open, Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and Julien Benneteau will meet in the final after semi-final successes over Mikhail Youzhny and Oscar Hernandez respectively.
