MK Dons' promotion push from League One continues to falter after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday.

After being in control of virtually the whole game, the Dons inconceivably conceded two late goals. They had cantered in to a 2-0 lead with goals from Aaron Wilbraham and Jason Puncheon and had further chances to extend their lead.

But in the 78th minute Mark Carrington headed home Alex's first, and when Willy Gueret brought down Alan Sheehan, Gylfi Sigurdsson sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot.

A goal deep into stoppage time from substitute Danny Whitaker kept Oldham Athletic's hopes of reaching the play-offs alive and denied Cheltenham Town a win that would have kept their mini-revival on track.

Carlisle United's relegation fears moved one step closer to becoming a reality when rivals-for-the-drop and betting favourites Hereford came to Brunton Park and walked away with a 2-1 win, while Simon Cox returned to Sixfields to complete a hat-trick as Swindon Town beat Northampton Town 4-3 as the fight to stay out of the relegation zone intensified.

In League Two, a late equaliser by Efe Sodje salvaged a precious point for promotion-chasing Bury at Rotherham United, while Jimmy Ryan was Accrington's match-winner as Stanley snatched the three points after a tight mid-table contest against Darlington at the Fraser Eagle Stadium.

In the Blue Square Premier League, play-off rivals Histon and Stevenage Borough played out a 0-0 draw while James Constable grabbed a brace as Oxford United continued their push for a play-off place with a 3-1 win at Rushden & Diamonds.

Grays Athletic moved out of the relegation zone with an impressive 1-1 draw at promotion-chasing Torquay United while York City drew 0-0 with Kettering Town. Tuesday's results confirmed Lewes' relegation.

In Scotland, a spectacular stoppage-time strike from veteran striker Craig Brewster helped Ross County beat Dunfermline 2-1 in the first division.

Raith Rovers moved to the top of the second division table with a 4-0 win at Brechin City while, in the third division, rock-bottom Elgin City gained a rare point with a 1-1 draw against Forfar Athletic.

Finally in boxing, Ryan Brawley won the lightweight version of the Prizefighter tournament against Stephen Burke in Glasgow.

The 23-year-old beat his Liverpudlian opponent by a comfortable margin of 29-28, 30-27 and 30-27 to take the top prize.
