F1 future more secure

All ten teams currently racing in Formula One have submitted conditional entries for the 2010 season.

Several teams had threatened to quit the sport over fears over a proposed budget cap, but Ferrari, McLaren, Brawn GP, BMW Sauber, Toyota, Renault, Red Bull Racing, Toro Rosso and Williams have now all met the deadline set by the FIA.

A statement on behalf of the Formula 1 Teams' Association read: "Fota confirms all its members' long-term commitment to be involved in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship.

"It has unanimously agreed further and significant actions to substantially reduce the costs of competing in the championship in the next three years."

Meanwhile, Prodrive have become one of four new teams seeking to join the F1 circus for next season.

The British team, led by Formula One veteran Dave Richards, join US F1, Spain's Campos Racing and Litespeed GP in seeking to enter motorsport's blue riband event.

Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck is hopeful that his club will be able to unveil the identity of their new manager in the near future.

Interim head coach Guus Hiddink will leave the Blues following the FA Cup final against Everton, with AC Milan's Carlo Ancelotti the hot favourite to succeed the Dutchman in the Stamford Bridge hotseat.

Buck told the club's official website: "When Guus came here in February the board knew it was only a temporary assignment. So at that moment we started the process of thinking about who our next manager would be.

"We've done our homework and we would hope that quite probably, sooner rather than later, we will announce the manager for next season and beyond.

"We're looking for the kind of person who can win trophies for Chelsea Football Club in an entertaining way year after year after year."

Meanwhile, Chelsea and John Terry have both dismissed claims that the England defender was a key figure in the departure of former manager Jose Mourinho from the club.

Ex-Blues midfielder Claude Makelele claimed in his autobiography that Terry asked for a transfer due to his discontent with Mourinho, who left Stamford Bridge in September 2007.

On the transfer front, England veteran David Beckham has dismissed rumours that he could join Chelsea next season if coach Carlo Ancelotti takes charge at Stamford Bridge.

The 34-year-old midfielder is on loan with Ancelotti's current club, AC Milan, but expects to return to the USA to link up with LA Galaxy later this summer.

Chelsea received another blow when Bayern Munich's general manager Uli Hoeness insisted that Franck Ribery is worth at least 100million euros.

The Blues and Manchester United have both been linked with 26-year-old forward in recent times, but Bayern remain adamant that they do not want to part with Ribery.
