Everton's Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini is set to miss the rest of the season due to an ankle injury which requires surgery.

The 22-year-old was injured in the Merseyside derby defeat to Liverpool earlier this month, suffering the knock in a tough challenge with Sotirios Kyrgiakos which saw the Reds defender sent off at Anfield.

Fellaini was forced to leave the field soon after and subsequent tests have revealed serious ankle ligament damage.

The 63-year-old has agreed a two-year deal with Turkey with the option of two more years.

Bradford City have named the former Leicester City and Hull City boss Peter Taylor as their new manager.

The 57-year-old, who also managed the England Under-21 side, has agreed a contract that will keep him at Valley Parade until the end of the season.

Taylor replaces Stuart McCall, who stepped down last week following the home defeat to Bury that left the Bantams in the bottom half of the League Two table.

West Ham United have finally agreed a compensation package with former manager Alan Curbishley, the League Managers' Association has confirmed.

Curbishley left the Upton Park club in September 2008 after his bosses sanctioned the moves of Anton Ferdinand and George McCartney, who left for Sunderland, without his knowledge.

The Managers' Arbitration Tribunal upheld Curbishley's right to have sole authority in relation to the sale and purchase of players. With this compromised, it was agreed that West Ham were guilty of a fundamental breach of contract and Curbishley was entitled to resign.

In rugby union, Ireland hooker Jerry Flannery has been banned for six weeks after being found guilty of kicking Alexis Palisson during Saturday's Six Nations defeat to online favourites to win the competition, France.

The Munster player had been cited for a dangerous 23rd-minute lunge on Palisson as Ireland slumped to a 33-10 defeat in Paris.

Meanwhile, Alun Wyn Jones will play no further part in Wales' Six Nations campaign after damaging an elbow in Saturday's incident-packed 31-24 victory over Scotland.

Jones, whose spell in the sin-bin against England in the first weekend of the competition ultimately cost his side the chance of victory at Twickenham, suffered a chipped bone and ligament damage against Scotland.

He will undergo surgery to correct the damage, leaving him on the sidelines for a possible three months.

Scotland back Thom Evans is set to undergo a second neck operation after suffering a horrific injury during the Wales defeat.

The 24-year-old Glasgow ace is still being treated in Cardiff's University Hospital, having already gone under the knife once to repair damage which has ended his season prematurely.
