Gerrard set to boost Reds

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard looks set to feature for the Reds in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Chelsea.

The 29-year-old England international missed the 4-0 win over Blackburn Rovers due to a groin injury, but boss Rafa Benitez is confident that Gerrard will recover in time for the action on Tuesday.

He said: "Steven is getting better, he has been working with the physio and will train on Monday.

"We will then discuss the situation with the doctors, but Steven will travel with the squad to London and I will make a decision on Tuesday.

"Obviously we do not want him to break down again, he could then be out for ten to 16 days. But the injury is not a massive one."

Liverpool are slight favourites with online betting experts to win the game.

Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor could be facing a spell on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury during the 3-3 draw with Everton.

The 22-year-old England international was replaced during the second half of the Villa Park thriller and faces a scan to determine the seriousness of the problem.

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Mowbray has admitted that he may be forced to sell a number of players if his club are relegated from the Premier League.

The Baggies boss is aware that he will not have any funds to bolster his squad, meaning that exits are necessary.

Mowbray said: "If we're going down, we need to revamp. We need to make money to bring players in and the only way we're going to do that is by selling players.

"I won't have any money to spend. That's the way the club is run."

Argentina's Angel Cabrera admitted that he was delighted to have won his second Major title by securing a dramatic play-off victory in The Masters at Augusta.

He said: "The US Open got me by surprise, but this win I'm more prepared.

"I know more how things happened. I was happy with my game. I was confident and just enjoying the moments.

"This is The Masters, a lot of magical things happen. I had goosebumps, I was shaking. I can't even explain it."

Newcastle Falcons rugby director Steve Bates thinks there is little chance of Jonny Wilkinson being fit enough to feature in this summer's Lions tour to South Africa.

Wilkinson has not played any rugby since dislocating his knee seven months ago and was unable to take part in Sunday's 32-13 European Challenge Cup quarter-final defeat at Saracens.

Bates believes it is unlikely that Wilkinson will feature in the Falcons' last two Guinness Premiership matches of the campaign, saying: "We're still working hard to try and rehabilitate that knee and make sure that things are progressing.

"But time is running out for him to get back on the field."
