The Glazer family are adamant that they have no intention of selling Manchester United.

A group called the 'Red Knights' are interested in buying United from the Glazers as concerns grow about the massive debts the club has built up - they now stand at £716.5million.

A recent prospectus spoke of a £500million bond sale prompting the 'Red Knights', which include deal maker Keith Harris and Jim O'Neill, the chief economist at Goldman Sachs, to make their move.

The group hopes to launch a £1billion bid for the club which was bought by the Glazers for £800million although a family spokesman has said: "Manchester United is not for sale."

Meanwhile, Barcelona have overtaken Manchester United in the latest rich list of European clubs.

Real Madrid still top the Deloitte Football Money League but Barca, the online favourites to retain their Champions League crown, are now second ahead of United, largely because of the strength of the Euro against the pound.

There has been a nine per cent rise in income at Old Trafford but Barcelona's unprecedented 2008-09 season on the pitch, when they won the Champions League, La Liga and Copa del Rey, lifted them above the Premier League champions.

However, there are no other Spanish teams in the top 20, while current Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich are fourth.

Chelsea midfielder Deco seems certain to leave London this summer and return to his native Brazil.

The Portugal international moved to Stamford Bridge from Barcelona at the beginning of last season on a three-year contract but has struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular during his time in the capital.

The 32-year-old ex-FC Porto midfielder was linked with a move away from Chelsea last summer with Internazionale his preferred destination only to eventually remain in the Premier League.

Deco has scored six goals in 52 first-team appearances during his time with the club.

Championship side QPR have named veteran boss Neil Warnock as their fifth manager of a turbulent season.

The much-travelled Warnock has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract at Loftus Road after agreeing to leave Crystal Palace, who are currently in administration.

In rugby union, Wales international Andy Powell has been banned from driving for 15 months following the incident which led to his axing from the Six Nations squad.

The 28-year-old flanker faced Cardiff Magistrates Court on Tuesday following his arrest on February 14 at a service station off the M4 motorway where he was found to be unfit at the wheel of a golf buggy.

The incident occurred just hours after Wales had beaten Scotland in a Six Nations game at the Millennium Stadium.

The Cardiff Blues star was also fined £1,000, ordered to pay £85 costs and afterwards admitted his sincere regret.
