Hamburg close on final spot

Hamburg are in pole position to reach the UEFA Cup final after securing a 1-0 victory at Werder Bremen in the first leg of an all-German semi-final.

Piotr Trochowski headed home the only goal of the game just before the half-hour mark in the Weserstadion, leaving Werder with a tough task in next week's second leg.
