Andy Murray made it through to round four of the French Open as opponent Janko Tipsarevic was forced to retire when two sets down to the world number three.
Murray, much fancied in the sportsbook as the man to upset Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer's domination, looked to be in trouble at 5-2 down in the first set, but he roared back to take the set on a tiebreak.
Tipsarevic then needed treatment for an injury and struggled through much of the second set, which he lost 6-3 before being forced to quit.
Murray's next opponent will by Croat Marin Cilic, the 13th seed, who saw off Radek Stepanek 6-1, 7-6, 6-3 in round three.
World number on Nadal swept into round four with a straight sets demolition of Lleyton Hewitt, with the Australian winning just five games in the match.
Eighth seed Fernando Verdasco and tenth seed Nikolay Davydenko eased into the fourth round, but seventh seed Gilles Simon was thrashed in straight sets by Romania's Victor Hanescu.
