Everton have confirmed that they hope to bring Manchester City striker Jo back to Goodison Park on loan.

The 22-year-old Brazil international joined David Moyes' side on loan in January and went on to score five times in 12 appearances for the club.

He is currently training with Everton at their pre-season training camp in Scotland and talks have opened with City about a possible temporary move.

Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce is no longer interested in bringing Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy to Ewood Park.

The 32-year-old former PSV Eindhoven and Manchester United star seems certain to leave the Bernabeu this summer following the captures of Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, Allardyce, who is desperate to bolster his strikeforce following the departures of Roque Santa Cruz and Matt Derbyshire, does not think Rovers can afford the Netherlands international's wages.

John Obi Mikel's agent has revealed that the Nigeria international has agreed a new five-year contract with Chelsea.

The 22-year-old was linked with a transfer to Internazionale earlier this year but is now prepared to commit his long-term future to last term's FA Cup winners.

Mikel only had 12 months remaining on his previous Stamford Bridge contract.

Chelsea have already secured Florent Malouda on a new contract this summer and Ashley Cole, Didier Drogba, Joe Cole and Alex are expected to follow suit soon.

England international Ben Foster has committed his future to online betting favourites to win a fourth successive Premier League title Manchester United by penning a contract extension that will keep him at Old Trafford until June 2013.

The 26-year-old moved to United from Stoke City four years ago since when he has been restricted to only ten first-team appearances for Sir Alex Ferguson's team.

Injuries have limited his first-team chances for United and he spent the 2005-06 and 2006-07 campaigns on loan at Watford, featuring in 81 matches for the Hornets.

In the Championship, Sheffield United goalkeeper Paddy Kenny has been suspended for failing a drugs test.

The 31-year-old former Bury shot-stopper tested positive for a banned substance at the time of the two legs of the Championship play-off semi-final against Preston North End in May.

In rugby union, England manager Martin Johnson has left Danny Cipriani out of his 32-man elite player squad for the new season.

The Wasps fly-half has been named in the second-string Saxons squad, along with winger Paul Sackey.

Jonny Wilkinson has been recalled to the elite squad though while veteran forwards Simon Shaw, Julian White, Ben Kay and Phil Vickery all retain their places.

England have a training camp next month before facing Australia, Argentina and New Zealand in November.
