The British & Irish Lions maintained a 100 per cent winning record on their tour of South Africa with a bruising 20-8 victory over the Southern Kings.
The final warm-up game ahead of the first Test was a rugged encounter in Port Elizabeth, with the Lions coming under heavy pressure in the first half, before taking control after the restart.
A second-half score from Ugo Monye and a penalty try gave the Lions a stranglehold on the game, although they were made to work for the win against a spirited home side marshalled brilliantly by Jaco van der Westhuyzen.
Early on both James Hook and Euan Murray had to leave the field of play due to injuries, being replaced by Ronan O'Gara and Adam Jones.
O'Gara and van der Westhuyzen then traded penalties, before the former Springbok was sent to the sin-bin for a shoulder barge on Riki Flutey.
The game remained cagey, before O'Gara's pinpoint cross-field kick was touched down by Monye at the third attempt 11 minutes into the second half.
A penalty try from a scrum infringement with ten minutes to play sealed the win, before the hosts had the last word in the game, with Mpho Mbiyozo charging over in the corner after a five-metre scrum.
