Betting favourites Manchester United grabbed a dramatic last-minute winner at home to Aston Villa to regain a one-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Italian teenager Federico Macheda stepped off the bench to net a superb clinched, as United edged home 3-2 at Old Trafford - with Cristiano Ronaldo netting the other two goals for the reigning champions.

Villa had threatened to inflict a shock defeat on the home side as they led 2-1 on the hour mark thanks to goals from John Carew and Gabriel Agbonlahor.

In the day's other game, Everton swept aside Wigan Athletic 4-0, with on-loan striker leading the rout with two goals. Marouane Fellaini and Leon Osman were also on the scoresheet for the Toffees.

In Italy, Internazionale are now nine points ahead of the chasing pack in Serie A following a 1-0 win at Udinese, with nearest challengers, Juventus, having been held to a 3-3 draw at home to Chievo.

AC Milan strengthened their grip on their place with a 2-0 home win over lowly Lecce, with both Ronaldinho and Pippo Inzaghi scoring in injury-time in the San Siro.

In Spain Valencia boosted their hopes of securing a top-four finish as they saw off Getafe 4-1 in the Mestalla, with Spain star David Villa converting two penalties for the home side.

Britain's Andy Murray tasted victory at the Miami Masters, seeing off world number three Novak Djokovic in straight sets.

Murray dominated in winning 6-2, 7-5 to secure his third title of the season and his 11th career crown, moving him level with Tim Henman's career total.

The Scot said after his success: "There are so many great players just now - Novak, Rafa Nadal, Roger Federer - and they've been dominating the Slams for the last few years. It would be nice to get in there and take one."

Jenson Button made it two wins out of two by securing victory in a dramatic Malaysian Grand Prix which ended early because of torrential rain.

The race was suspended after 31 laps and, after almost an hour of deliberation, the race was declared over because of the dangerous conditions.

Button was leading at the time, but picked up only five points as teams and drivers are awarded half points when less than 75 per cent of the race has been completed.

BMW Sauber's Nick Heidfeld was second ahead of Toyota's Timo Glock while world champion Lewis Hamilton was back in seventh.

India are closing in on victory in the third and final Test match in New Zealand, while Rahul Dravid set a new world record of 182 catches as a non-wicketkeeper on day four in Wellington.

The tourists declared on 434-7 in their second innings to leave the Black Caps needing more than 600 for an unlikely victory, but New Zealand were tottering on 167-4 by the close of play on day four at the Basin Reserve.
