Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has been cautioned by police for allegedly throwing a coin at Burnley fans during a Carling Cup clash between the two sides earlier this season.

The 30-year-old Ivory Coast international was cautioned for common assault on Friday.

Drogba was said to have thrown the coin at Clarets fans after having at least one missile aimed at him after netting in the Stamford Bridge encounter, which Burnley eventually won on penalties.

Guus Hiddink has admitted that his contract as Russia coach could end early should they fail to qualify for the 2010 World Cup Finals in South Africa.

Hiddink replaced Luiz Felipe Scolari as Chelsea boss earlier this year but only until the end of this season in a dual role while he continued to coach Russia.

Online betting experts have predicted that the Dutchman would leave Stamford Bridge in the summer and return to his Russia role full-time but that has now been cast in doubt.

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill would not be surprised if Gareth Barry left the club in the summer.

The England international was linked with a transfer to Liverpool for most of last year's close season only to eventually opt to stay at Villa Park.

However, Barry only has 12 months left of his contract and O'Neill would not stand in the player's way if he wanted to leave.

In cricket, West Indies coach John Dyson has admitted he got his sums wrong after the first one-day international against England ended in farce.

Dyson told his batsmen to take the bad light offered to them by the umpires, thinking his side were ahead on the Duckworth-Lewis method.

However, it was England who actually led by one run when the game came to an early halt and they now hold a 1-0 lead in the series.

Dyson admitted: "I thought we were ahead when we were behind by one. It's my responsibility, I accept it. I've apologised to the team, it's all I can do."

In rugby union, Wasps winger Tom Voyce will be plying his trade with Gloucester for the next three years after deciding to move to Kingsholm at the end of this season.

The 28-year-old has spent the last six years with Wasps but is keen to start a new chapter in his career.

There has been a dramatic U-turn in Formula 1 after it was decided to axe plans for a new scoring system in 2009.

The sport's governing body, FIA, had announced that the driver with the most wins rather than the most points would be crowned world champion.

However, just over a week before the start of the new season, the FIA has decided to postpone the introduction of the new system until 2010.
