Portsmouth have confirmed that they expect their players to be paid in the next couple of days, following a delay due to the recent takeover of the club.
The wages of the Pompey squad were not paid on Wednesday, but a club statement stated that payments will be made in the near future.
The statement read: "There was a delay in the transfer of funds, but the lawyers have received confirmation that this will happen today, which will enable the players to be paid within the next 24 to 48 hours. The players have all been informed of the situation."
Pompey are rock-bottom of the Premier League table after failing to win any of their seven opening games and are online betting favourites for the drop.

Elsewhere, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed that striker Michael Owen will be out for at least a fortnight after suffering a groin injury in the Champions League victory over Wolfsburg.
The 29-year-old lasted just 20 minutes of the 2-1 victory at Old Trafford, having been handed only his third start since joining the Red Devils in the summer.
Ferguson said after the win: "He thought he was fine to play, but on a wet surface, when he tried to turn quickly, it came back again.
"It is not a serious one and I am not worried because players do get them, but he will be out for two to three weeks."
