Aaron Ramsey has vowed to return 'fitter and stronger' from the double leg fracture the Arsenal midfielder suffered at Stoke last weekend.

Ramsey, 19, is facing months on the sidelines after a controversial tackle from Ryan Shawcross left the rising star with a fractured fibula and tibia.

"It is very hard to take, but I am young and have time on my side," he explained.

"I had an operation last weekend and while it will take time for my leg to heal, I am determined and focused on overcoming this injury and hope to be back fitter and stronger than before."

Elsewhere, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson claims Wayne Rooney is to blame for the knee injury which looks set to keep him out of Saturday's trip to Wolves.

Ferguson has told his 28-goal leading scorer to take more responsibility for his own fitness after criticising his decision to play for World Cup online betting third favourites England.

The United boss was annoyed that Rooney played almost the full 90 minutes of the midweek international friendly with Egypt despite reporting for England duty with a minor knee problem.

The 35-year-old former Wales and British Lions skipper has penned an 18-month deal with the Wrexham-based club after deciding to end his long and successful rugby union career.

Thomas has left rugby union side Cardiff Blues in order to make the move and has hit back at critics who have suggested he will struggle to cope in the 13-man format.

"I've constantly pushed myself to the limit and I constantly push myself against the youngsters at Cardiff Blues," he said.

"I feel that my body is fine, my fitness is fine and this, if anything, will give me more of an appetite for rugby."
