England manager Fabio Capello has recalled in-form Tottenham Hotspur duo Peter Crouch and Aaron Lennon to his 24-man squad for the forthcoming games against Slovenia and Croatia at Wembley.

England face Slovenia in a friendly on Saturday before playing Croatia in a World Cup qualifier on September 9.

Both Crouch and Lennon have contributed to Spurs' excellent start to the campaign and netted in Saturday's 2-1 win against Birmingham City.

However, they were not included in Capello's squad for the recent 2-2 draw with the Netherlands.

Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster returns from injury to join fellow shot-stoppers Robert Green and Paul Robinson in the squad while Wes Brown is also included.

However, there is still no place for Michael Owen in Capello's plans.

Meanwhile, Burnley appear to be winning the race to sign Hull City striker Daniel Cousin on a season-long loan agreement.

Clarets boss Owen Coyle is keen to add to his strike options and has been chasing the 32-year-old for several weeks.

Former Rangers forward Cousin has scored five goals in 31 appearances for the Tigers since arriving at the KC Stadium 12 months ago, but refused to shake Phil Brown's hand when he was substituted after 22 minutes of the recent 5-1 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Brown has completed the signing of defender Paul McShane from Sunderland for an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old defender has signed a four-year deal at the KC Stadium after agreeing to return to a club where he spent time on loan last season.

McShane made 17 appearances for the Tigers before being recalled by Sunderland, but was not in Steve Bruce's first-team plans during the opening games of the new campaign.

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has made the Red Star Belgrade midfielder Segundo Castillo his eighth signing of the summer.

The 27-year-old Ecuador international, who scored once in 13 games during a loan spell at Everton last term, moves to Molineux on a season-long loan agreement.

There is also an option in place for Wolves to make the deal permanent at the end of the loan spell.

In cricket, England captain Paul Collingwood was pleased with his side's bowling and fielding display in Sunday's rain-ruined Twenty20 match against Australia at Old Trafford.

England, who are the online favourites to win Tuesday's clash, restricted Australia to 145-4 but were reduced to 4-2 after 1.1 overs before the match was abandoned.
