Fernando Torres has pledged his future to Liverpool in a bid to end the flurry of stories linking him with a summer move away from Anfield.

The Spain striker has cut an increasingly forlorn figure during the course of a turbulent season which has been blighted by a series of niggling injuries.

Torres has scored 18 goals this term but a series of reports had suggested the 26-year-old could seek a summer transfer should the ailing Merseyside club fail to secure Champions League football for next season.

However, Torres claims he is happy at Anfield and not thinking about leaving the Premier League whatever happens to the Reds this season.

"My place is here at Liverpool and in England," he told his personal website.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp is delighted that his club have tied up a deal to sign highly-rated Internacional midfielder Sandro.

The 21-year-old Brazil international has agreed to join Spurs in the summer, although he needs to secure a work permit to seal his move to England.

Redknapp told the club's official website: "He is an outstanding young player who we feel has a great future."

Guinness Premiership title hopefuls Saracens hope to have England captain Steve Borthwick back in action in the near future.

The 30-year-old lock forward missed the Six Nations closer against France last weekend due to a knee injury, but Sarries are confident that Borthwick will not miss the rest of the season, as has been suggested by some reports.

England captain Andrew Strauss is confident that the decision to sit out the recent tour of Bangladesh will prove to be correct.

Strauss took a break while Alastair Cook led the side on tour, with a packed international schedule in the coming year the main reason for the left-hander's absence.

He commented: "We have some really important cricket coming up. The Ashes is a huge series for us and the World Cup is a huge one-day series for us. We need to be peaking there.

"I can understand the argument that the captain should be there all the time, but I still think it has been the right decision in the long-term interests of the England side."

Red Bull enjoyed a perfect qualifying session at the Australian Grand Prix, with Sebastian Vettel taking pole position and team-mate Mark Webber alongside him on the front row.

Vettel was more than a tenth of a second quicker than his Red Bull colleague, while Webber was narrowly faster than third-placed Fernando Alonso, with the Ferrari driver impressing again after winning the opening race of the season in Bahrain.
