Toyota enjoyed a perfect qualifying session at the Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix with pole-sitter Jarno Trulli and Timo Glock locking out the front row at Sakhir.

Trulli is betting favourite for the race after claiming pole position with a storming fast lap in the final part of the session, being more than half a second quicker than everyone else in the field apart from team-mate Glock.

Chinese Grand Prix winner Sebastian Vettel in third in his Red Bull and alongside him on row two is Jenson Button in the first of the two Brawn GP cars.

Button's number two, Rubens Barrichello, starts from sixth place, with reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton in fifth in his McLaren.

Renault's Fernando Alonso was seventh fastest, while the two Ferraris of Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen were eighth and tenth.

Mark Webber suffered a nightmare session as he finished 19th on the grid, only just ahead of Force India's Giancarlo Fisichella.

In football, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson remains confident that striker Carlos Tevez will opt to remain at Old Trafford beyond the end of the season.

The 25-year-old Argentina international is coming to the end of a two-year loan stint with the Red Devils and recently hinted that he may opt to move on.

However, Ferguson told reporters: "I think he genuinely wants to stay here. That is something we are trying to work towards, I have told him that repeatedly."

Munster scrum-half Tomas O'Leary is set to miss the British and Irish Lions Tour of South Africa after sustaining a serious ankle injury.

The 25-year-old was injured early on during his side's 29-10 win over the Llanelli Scarlets in the Magners League on Friday evening and needed treatment at Cork University Hospital.

Munster coach Tony McGahan told the club's official website: "It goes without saying that we are very disappointed to lose a player of Tomas' stature at this crucial stage of the season.

"Even more so, from his own personal point of view, given that he had just been selected to tour with the Lions, our thoughts are with him in that regard."

Reigning champion Ronnie O'Sullivan was downbeat after being knocked out of this year's World Snooker Championships in the second round by Mark Allen.

O'Sullivan admitted: "He played brilliantly and if he keeps on playing like that he's got a great chance of winning the tournament.

"But I half expected that. I didn't expect to get through my first round, to be honest."

In cricket, Worcestershire's star fast bowler Kabir Ali has been ruled out for up to six weeks due to a hamstring injury.

The 28-year-old was injured during the Friends Provident Trophy clash with Hampshire at The Rose Bowl last weekend and subsequent scans have confirmed a slight tear to his left hamstring.
