Worst dressed golfers

Author: Brandon Barker

Jon Daly's new wardrobe of garish trousers is the latest in a long line of fashion faux pas in the world of golf.

At last week's Italian Open the already colourful American sported some of the loudest strides ever seen on a golf course.

The sportsbooks are already taking bets on what head-turning style the 'Wild Thing' will wear next time out.

However, Daly isn't alone as these famous faces have also alerted the fashion police with unforgettable looks over the years.

Payne Stewart

The late Payne Stewart is remembered as one of the great gentlemen of the game. However, his penchant for tam o'shanter caps and patterned trousers, which were a combination of plus fours and knickerbockers, was spectacularly awful.

Duffy Waldorf

The American journeyman is certainly more well-known for his wild attire than tournament victories. His colourful Hawaiian-style shirts are the stuff of legend in locker rooms the length and breadth of the PGA Tour.

Bubba Watson

The powerfully-built American is regularly among the longest hitters on the PGA Tour. However, someone needs to tell him to undo the top button on his polo shirt as the choirboy look does him no justice.

Nick Faldo

The greatest British golfer of all time he may have been, but the pictures of Faldo holding aloft his three Claret Jugs are just embarrassing. The 'Geometric George' Pringle sweater and collection of ill-fitting cardigans deserve to be consigned to the past.

Ian Poulter

Union Jack trousers, plus fours and a different colour shirt for every day of the week. The only thing more amazing than Poulter's unique take on golf fashion is that he has seen fit to share with the world via his own line of signature brand clothing.

Jesper Parnevik

It is said that sponsors never miss a trick, and when Parnevik started wearing the peak of his cap upturned to help with facial tanning, it wasn't long before it started sporting a logo. The Swede's unique look is one seldom seen on your local course!

Johnny Miller

The now American television analyst is noted for his cutting observations. But during his playing career in the 70s and 80s his drainpipe trousers were memorable as much for their breathtaking tightness as the loud tartan prints.

The entire 1999 US Ryder Cup team

As if dancing across the green in celebration before Europe were officially beaten at Brookline wasn't bad enough, the US team ought to have been thoroughly ashamed of their horrendous shirts which featured pictures of Ryder Cups heroics past. Utterly shameful!
