Well the battle betwen the Celtics and the Wizards is finally over so the league can now call LeBron James and company back to work to compete against Boston in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Cavs finished off the Toronto Raptors way back on May 7th and will not play Game 1 until Wednesday night the 17th. They have wanted rest all along and that is what they received but this can be difficult to overcome at least in Game 1 as I will explain later.
The only bad part for the Cavs is that I am sure they were hoping the Wizards would pull off the seventh game upset so they would not have to travel for Games 1 and 2 but Washington was just not capable of getting that road win to advance to the conference finals. This will finally put the first real obstacle in Clevelands way to the finals but let’s not pretend here, it will not be a difficult obstacle to overcome. The Cavs are healthy, rested and extremely confident that the Celtics will not be a difficult task although they should see a bit more resistance then in their first two playoffs rounds.
My quick prediction for this playoff is a 4-1 victory for Cleveland as they should stroll into Boston this week and at least pick up one game there. I suppose the best opportunity will be in Game 2 as in my history I have seen teams with so much rest during such a demanding season have a difficult time putting things back in place and seem to struggle early. Just looking at what happen to the Golden State Warriors in Game 1 of their series with San Antonio after the week of rest is enough eveidence for me. I look for Boston to come out off their Game 7 victory on fire and their fans also, while it will take a little while for the Cavs to regain the momentum they had after so many days off. There are too many bets that I am finding on 888sport.com that I like but I will leave you one here that I think is almost a sure thing and pays quite well. Like I said the Celts should get off to a fast start so looking at a 1st quarter bet only I see the Boston -3.5 pays 3.35 at the end of the first 12 minutes, this is a play that I will be making for sure and I might even look at some first half numbers. Enjoy this series while it last because it might not be here for long.
As mentioned earlier, Game 1 in the Western Conference Finals was enough for me to put the final nails in the Spurs coffin. San Antonio raced out to a 20 point half time lead and then once again lost superstar Kawhi Leonard to an ankle sprain. The Spurs saw Golden State slowly cut into that lead and eventually win the game 113-111. This was a crushing defeat to the Spurs who are already without Tony Parker so the possible lost of Leonard will just make matters worse for Gregg Popovich. I honestly do not see San Antonio coming back to make this a series after Game 1 even with Leonard at full strength. It is one thing to play the Houston Rockets without your full roster but another thing to try and face the Golden State Warriors. Golden State Wins Playoff 4-1.
