Local hero Kell Brook is a 6/4 underdog to successfully defend his IBF welterweight title against unbeaten American Errol Spence at Sheffield United's Bramall Lane.

The 31-year-old Blades fan suffered his first defeat in 37 pro fights when stopped in round five by Gennady Golovkin last September.

However, Brook more than held his own early on against a man regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters on the planet at a weight two divisions up from his usual category.

Shedding almost a stone to get back down to welterweight could be a problem for Special K, but the proud Yorkshireman expects to be inspired by the venue for Saturday night's bout.

"I want it with all my heart," Brook said. "I've been coming down here since I was seven. My uncle Johnny told me that I would defend my world title here one day.

"It's a dream come true for me, for the city. I've just looked out and I've never seen the pitch like that before, all ready for Saturday night. I want to go out there and put a great show on for everybody."

Brook can be backed at 4/1 to get the job done inside the distance and he is 33/10 to prevail on points.

However, Spence has travelled across the Atlantic with a big reputation, with the 27-year-old having won all 21 of his fights in the paid ranks, 18 by knockout.

The New York-born boxer admits this is a step up in class, but declared: "I'm going to prove myself Saturday night. I have the skills and ability to beat Kell Brook."

Spence is 13/25 to claim the title, 8/5 to stop Brook and 5/2 to get the nod via the judges' scorecards.
