• Dina Asher-Smith is a world champion sprinter and the fastest British woman in history

  • The Team GB star has a net worth of around $1 million

  • With a relay bronze in Rio, Asher-Smith is hoping for glory at Tokyo 2021 this summer

Dina Asher-Smith is a Team GB star and one of the fastest women in the world. Asher-Smith is not just a sports betting phenom.

The Orpington-born athlete has become a universally-loved athlete in the UK, appearing on various popular shows including the Jonathan Ross Show and A League Of Their Own.

A world champion, Olympic medallist and the quickest British woman of all-time, Asher-Smith’s place in British athletics history is already secure.

Still in her mid-twenties, however, there’s more to come from the 2019 nominee for Sports Personality of the Year. Read on for everything you need to know on Asher-Smith ahead of this summer’s Olympic Games…

Dina Asher-Smith Net Worth

Most Dina Asher-Smith net worth estimations are in the $1 million region. The sprinter has been a British star for the best part of a decade, and heads to the Tokyo Olympics with hopes of a second Olympic medal.

Asher-Smith has endorsements with Hublot and Nike. Away from the riches directly associated with her on-track heroics, she’s likely bringing in plenty of revenue through other streams.

It’s not over the top to say Asher-Smith has become a role model. In an interview with the Mirror in 2019, the Team GB sprinter spoke about her ascension to celebrity.

“It’s nice that people see me as a role model, but I’m like, I’m just doing me. You know, smiley, cloud nine, coloured eye shadow, bumbling along...”

Asher-Smith has always remained impressively down to earth.

"So being told I am a role model is something that has taken me a while to adjust to, not because I don’t like it but because I didn’t at first understand what I had to give.

"I felt a bit of an imposter. I felt uncomfortable because I didn’t know why people saw me in that light.”

Her coach has clearly played a big role in adapting to her life in the spotlight.

“But my coach explained that it was because ‘you have the confidence to go and be yourself’. And so many people, particularly women in sport, feel they have to shape shift into what people think a sportswoman should be."

Dina Asher-Smith Rio 2016

Dina Asher-Smith suffered a disappointing result in the women’s 200 metres in the Rio 2016 Olympics. Finishing fifth in the final with a time of 22.31, Asher-Smith posted a season-best time, and was just 0.16 seconds off a podium spot.

Luckily, that wasn’t the end of her medal hopes. Accompanied by Asha Philip, Desiree Henry and Daryll Neita, Asher-Smith won the bronze in the 4 x 100 metre relay, setting a national record in the process.

Preparing for Tokyo in the summer of 2021, Asher-Smith once again harbours serious medal hopes.

Dina Asher-Smith Medals

It might have only been one piece of hardware from the 2016 Rio Olympics, but Asher-Smith has won more than her fair share of medals throughout her career to date.

From two golds at the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2011 to two more at the European Juniors a couple of years later, success and Asher-Smith have been synonymous.

Her first senior medal came in the same year as the European Juniors glory, winning a bronze in the 4 x 100 at the World Championships.

More Juniors medals followed, and in Prague in 2015, the Team GB star set a national record and won the silver medal at the senior European Indoor Championships.

A gold in the 200 metres and a silver in the relay followed in the European Championships in 2016, before a relay silver at the Worlds in London a year later.

Five more medals, including four golds, were accumulated across the European Championships and Commonwealth Games in 2018. Three world-leading times were set at the European Championships in Berlin, too.

For all Asher-Smith’s brilliance, she keeps getting better. The 2019 World Championships was arguably her best event yet, finishing with the gold in the 200 metres, the silver in the 100 and another silver in the relay.

Throw in numerous Diamond League triumphs, and Asher-Smith has a remarkable CV at such an early stage in her career.

How Tall Is Dina Asher-Smith?

Dina Asher-Smith is 5’5. While around the average height for a woman in the UK, Asher-Smith is five inches taller than one of the greatest female sprinters of all-time, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.

Florence Joyner, the owner of the fastest women’s 100 metres time ever, was two inches taller than the Team GB icon.

Heights are very varied in women’s sprinting. The two fastest women in 2021 are Fraser-Pryce and Sha'Carri Richardson, but the third-fastest is Elaine Thompson Herah, who stands at the same height as Asher-Smith.

How Old Is Dina Asher-Smith?

Dina Asher-Smith is 25 years old. She was born on 4th December 1995 in Orpington. While she’s been competing at an elite level since the early-2010s, Asher-Smith is still just at the beginning of her career.

The magnificent Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is 34 years old and remains at the top of her game. Fraser-Pryce isn’t an anomaly, either. Blessing Okagbare is also into her thirties and she’s the sixth-fastest woman in the world this year.

Heading into her second Olympics, Asher-Smith has plenty more opportunities. Competing in the 2028 Olympics isn’t far-fetched.

Dina Asher-Smith Boyfriend

Information is limited on Dina Asher-Smith’s relationship status. An article from March 2020 suggests Asher-Smith was single at the time, though she was previously in a year-long relationship with fellow sprinter Zharnel Hughes.

They broke up in 2018, but Asher-Smith has understandably been keen to keep her private life as just that.

Speaking on the subject in 2018, she said, “We are fine, we are still friends. I won’t go into the details because that is personal life but we are cool, absolutely fine.”

Dina Asher-Smith Instagram

With on-track success, Dina Asher-Smith’s fame has soared over the last few years. She was a star at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Her life in the spotlight has featured countless television appearances, as well as a Sports Personality of the Year nomination.

Asher-Smith has almost 300,000 Instagram followers. It’s a frequently updated account, with a mix of photos from training, and insights into her daily life. Fans can follow the Team GB sprinter @dinaashersmith.

Perhaps Olympic success in Tokyo can see Asher-Smith close the gap to Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce on social media as well as the track. The Jamaican athlete has over 450,000 followers as of June 23rd 2021.
