Another Sunday, another dollar. We are back with our thoughts on Sunday’s Premier League triple header, beginning with Everton’s trip to Southampton and finishing with Huddersfield Town hosting runaway leaders Manchester City. Check out our top tips and betting advice ahead of what could be a memorable weekend of top flight football...
Southampton vs Everton
A difficult one to call. Both clubs have failed to build momentum this season, Everton’s woes have been well documented whilst Southampton are languishing down in 14th. On their day, Saints can strut their stuff with England’s top clubs but consistency still haunts them. This is a potential banana skin if Southampton take Everton lightly.
You wouldn’t want to back Everton on current form though. The Toffees are struggling right now and it looks like Watford manager Marco Silva will remain at Vicarage Road for the time being. Acquiring the right man for the job is Everton’s number one priority at this moment in time and their managerial situation could be an unwelcome distraction ahead of this trip to the south coast.
Under 2.5 goals has landed in four of Southampton’s previous five home league games AND four of Everton’s previous six away league games. And with those statistics in mind, 16/25 is very appealing indeed.
TIP: Under 2.5 goals @ 16/25
Burnley vs Arsenal
Sean Dyche has done an excellent job at Burnley this season and some would argue that the Clarets boss is in the running for the Premier League’s Manager of the Year award. Currently sitting seventh in the top flight table, Burnley have maintained their early momentum and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see the hosts topple Arsenal if the visitors have an off day.
Arsenal have a good record away at Burnley and the Gunners will be confident ahead of the trip to Turf Moor. Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil have both shown signs of their best form in recent weeks and Arsene Wenger will be expecting his main men to shine here. An Arsenal win is perhaps a little short at 13/25 but the visitors are certainly capable.
For me, Arsenal to be leading at half-time carries more value at 49/50. Wenger will demand a fast start at Turf Moor and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see the Gunners blitz Burnley early on.
TIP: Arsenal to win the first half @ 49/50
Huddersfield Town vs Manchester City
After a solid start to the campaign, Huddersfield have settled in mid-table. David Wagner’s men are performing exceptionally well on a weekly basis and Town supporters should be very proud of their club’s efforts this season. This is their toughest test yet though, current Premier League leaders Manchester City will give the hosts a stern examination.
Pep Guardiola’s side have enjoyed the strongest start to a season in Premier League history – a statistic that shows just how dominant the Blues have been. You’d find it tough to find a weakness in this City side and there are already whispers discussing whether Pep’s men can go undefeated this year. Only time will tell on that front...
A City win looks inevitable but there is next to no value in the market. For me, over 7.5 shots on target carries plenty of appeal at 23/20. City are blessed with one of the best attacking units in world football and that looks very likely indeed.
TIP: Man City to have over 7.5 shots on target @ 23/20
