Alexis Sanchez: 6/4 Manchester City BIG Favourites To Sign The Chilean

Arsenal are in serious trouble. Losing 1-0 away at Stoke was expected in some ways as the Gunners have tended to struggle against the Potters but conceding four goals against title rivals Liverpool was disappointing to say the least.

Arsene Wenger’s men were second best in every department and they failed to test Loris Karius in the home goal. Shortly after the hour mark, Alexis Sanchez – making his seasonal debut after an extended spell out through injury – was substituted for Olivier Giroud.

In years gone by, the Chilean has been Arsenal’s knight in shining armour but he failed to make a significant impact at Anfield on Sunday afternoon. Sanchez looked disinterested on the bench despite the score line.

At 4-0 down, the Chile star was captured smiling to himself and plenty of punters will believe that his actions on and off the field that day show that he would rather be somewhere else.

As of August 29th, he is a 3/5 shot to stay at Arsenal for the time being but that could all change come transfer deadline day.

Rumours started to circulate earlier this morning that the Gunners have offered Arsenal a player plus cash offer for Sanchez from Manchester City. According to John Cross of the Daily Mirror, Wenger has been offered Raheem Sterling as his replacement.

A player of a similar mould to Sanchez but without that natural goal scoring instinct in front of goal, Arsenal will be tempted to accept – especially as Sterling has enjoyed a fine start to the new campaign. 888Sport are currently offering 6/4 on the Chilean to join City this summer.

Keeping a wantaway player for the sake of keeping a wantaway player isn’t the best option most of the time. Sanchez, now 28 years old, will almost certainly be pushing for a transfer away from the Emirates Stadium behind the scenes.

Teaming up with a manager like Pep Guardiola will be a determining factor in his thinking process but most of all, winning the Premier League trophy and competing in the Champions League is his primary objective.

At Arsenal, that won’t be happening anytime soon and the sands of time are running out. As of next December, Sanchez will be 30 years old – on the verge of an inevitable decline. With City, he may be used more sparingly than at Arsenal but that has to be expected; he can still be one of Guardiola’s most important assets.

On the red half of Manchester, United fans are also whispering about a potential move for the Chile star. Jose Mourinho’s men have been ominously good so far this season, winning all three Premier League encounters without conceding a goal.

We know United have the financial power to pay big for Sanchez and 6/1 for the Red Devils to make a late move could be worth a small wager. Wenger won’t want to sell to Mourinho but at the end of the day, money talks...

A Manchester bidding war could be on the cards but a transfer to the Etihad Stadium looks more realistic than a move to Old Trafford at the present moment. With Sanchez looking to move things along in the coming days, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see a blockbuster Premier League transfer involving the Chilean before the transfer window slams shut.
