Chelsea were abysmal away at Watford on Monday night and West Bromwich Albion’s visit offers up another potential banana skin for the defending Premier League champions.

The Blues are currently fourth in the table but is it difficult to keep faith in Chelsea boss Antonio Conte after recent performances.

Historically, owner Roman Abramovich has been quick to react when things aren’t going well at Stamford Bridge and this fixture is of huge importance to Conte’s future at the club.

Guus Hiddink and Carlo Ancelotti will be checking their missed calls this week in anticipation of another Chelsea call-up…

Conte Is A Dead Man Walking

With Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal going up against each other this weekend, the onus is on Chelsea to pick up all three points. Their record in this fixture is impressive for the most part but West Brom did manage to snatch a draw at Stamford Bridge two years ago.

As is the case most weeks, Eden Hazard is Chelsea’s main danger man – the Belgium star scored a superb solo effort against Watford last time out and is priced at EVS to add to his tally for the campaign.

Most of the attention ahead of this one will be on Conte and that could lead to a fairly tame contest at the Bridge. West Brom will want a tight, scrappy affair and that brings the ‘No’ for a goal in both halves into play. At 6/5, it is a decent price.

Both clubs have had their issues in front of goal this campaign and that could be the best way to go. In addition, the 47/20 for a goalless first half is also worth considering.

West Brom In Danger Of Being Cast Away

The Hawthorns faithful are starting to get nervous – and rightly so. West Brom’s 3-2 defeat to Southampton could come back to haunt the Baggies but there is still time to turn things around.

Fixtures against Southampton and Huddersfield, both of whom feature in our Super Sunday preview this weekend, may be a priority for Alan Pardew’s side but Chelsea are there for the taking. West Brom are now four points adrift at the bottom of the table but a win could spur the Baggies to push on and secure their top-flight status.

Pardew will be confident of leading his team to safety but punters who aren’t as keen on their chances can back the Baggies at 8/13 to go down. With fixtures against their relegation rivals approaching, momentum could be key as we enter the business stage of the campaign.

Both teams to score is available at EVS and punters should snap that up. It is hard to back either side to prevail but goals look likely. This one won’t go down as one of the games of the season but defensive errors may see a few clear-cut chances.

Anything less than a convincing home win here and Conte may return to the dressing room to find his bags are already packed.

It is hard to back West Brom with much confidence right now but we have seen Chelsea capitulate in the past when a manager has been under pressure and the Baggies represent solid value at 12/5 to snatch a positive result.

It’s been a funny old tenure for Conte but his time in west London is coming to an end. Both Andre Villas-Boas and Roberto di Matteo lost their jobs shortly after facing the Baggies and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see the Italian axed before next weekend.

TIP: West Bromwich Albion to win OR draw @ 12/5

CORRECT SCORE: Chelsea 1-1 West Bromwich Albion @ 15/2
