With just 42 points left to play for, we are now well and truly into the business end of the Championship campaign. There are battles at both ends of the table, with a real scrap for survival ongoing at the bottom whilst a group of teams are still in the hunt for the automatic promotion spots.
We’ve looked at this week’s Championship action and this 15/1 four-fold could be the way to go. Sheffield United, still very much in the playoff race, head our accumulator on Tuesday evening – check out the rest of our top tips below…
MIDDLESBROUGH vs Hull City
Tony Pulis’ side fell short against Cardiff City last time out but can get back to winning ways on home soil. Middlesbrough have failed to inspire confidence at the Riverside Stadium this campaign but their supporters will be expecting a big performance and the three points on Tuesday night.
Hull are languishing close to the relegation zone and the Tigers could slip into the bottom three if Barnsley defeat Burton Albion. Only Sunderland (5) have won fewer games than Hull this season and that is why Nigel Adkins’ men are in their current predicament. I can't see the Tigers bucking the trend here.
TIP: Middlesbrough to win @ 4/6
SHEFFIELD UNITED vs Queens Park Rangers
The Blades have struggled for home goals in recent weeks, firing a blank in three of their last five fixtures at Bramall Lane. However, they should have enough talent in attacking areas to break down this leaky Queens Park Rangers defence. Over 2.5 goals is well worth a second look at 19/20 despite their offensive woes.
QPR have won just two away games so far this season – one at Burton Albion and the other at Birmingham City. A midweek trip to Bramall Lane is hardly ideal and the hosts could run riot under the floodlights. 7/10 is a decent price for a Sheffield United victory.
TIP: Sheffield United to win @ 7/10
Bristol City vs FULHAM
Lee Johnson was livid after his Bristol City side threw away a two-goal lead away at Leeds United this weekend and there could be a Bristol backlash. The Robins have a great record at Craven Cottage but lost to Fulham in this fixture in the 2016/17 campaign and another defeat looks likely.
Fulham are the Championship’s in-form team and it would take a brave man to back against them on current form. Unbeaten in their previous 10 league games, Slavia Jokanovic’s side have their eyes on the second automatic promotion spot – Fulham are just six points behind Cardiff at the time of writing. Back the Cottagers at 8/5 to prevail at Ashton Gate.
TIP: Fulham to win @ 8/5
Ipswich Town vs CARDIFF CITY
Ipswich were denied a derby day victory against Norwich City on Sunday afternoon and Mick McCarthy’s men may still be a little deflated after that setback. The Tractor Boys are a solid enough second tier outfit but they do tend to fall short against the bigger sides.
Cardiff’s blip is over – the Bluebirds are unbeaten in their last six Championship games. Cue a trip to Ipswich and a potential banana skin but Neil Warnock’s side have enough talent to pick up a huge three points. 6/5 is some price for a team in second position and a win here would send out a clear message to their automatic promotion rivals.
TIP: Cardiff City to win @ 6/5
