We take a look at some of the week’s biggest American Football matches

The NFL returned to our screens last weekend and provided plenty of entertainment across the league. Tom Brady and the New England Patriots got off to a winning start against the Pittsburgh Steelers while Andrew Luck’s Indianapolis Colts were beaten by the defensive prowess of the Buffalo Bills.

This week, however, there are plenty of huge clashes, with divisional encounters and rival matches set to take place. Can the Seattle Seahawks bounce back from their opening defeat to St. Louis Rams? Can Tony Romo lead the Dallas Cowboys to victory against the Philadelphia Eagles, despite losing star wide receiver Dez Bryant? We take a look at a few of the most important matches in Week 2.

Tennessee Titans @ Cleveland Browns

Cleveland Browns

Rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota will look to exploit a depleted Cleveland Browns side as Tennessee travel to the ‘Dawg Pound’ on Sunday. Mariota, who was selected as the number two overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, threw four touchdowns and no interceptions in a perfect debut for the Titans signal-caller.

Meanwhile, Cleveland will be forced to start with the controversial Johnny Manziel at quarterback after Josh McCown picked up an injury in their curtain raiser against the New York Jets. Despite this setback, the Browns will be quietly confident of their chances and you can back them at 51/50 to secure the win.

Detroit Lions @ Minnesota Vikings

Detroit Lions

Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions will be seething after throwing away a 21-3 lead against the San Diego chargers last week. Rookie running back Ameer Abdullah impressed once again and will give Stafford yet another weapon in Detroit’s high powered offense.

The Vikings, meanwhile, were incredibly disappointing in their 20-3 defeat to San Francisco 49ers. Adrian Peterson made his return but failed to inspire a weak Vikings team to success at Levi’s Stadium. On home soil, the Vikings may flourish in this NFC North clash and are currently priced at 69/100 to avoid losing their opening two fixtures of the season.

Dallas Cowboys @ Philadelphia Eagles

Dallas Cowboys

Philadelphia Eagles fell short against the Atlanta Falcons after an incredible individual effort from Julio Jones. Quarterback Sam Bradford appears to have settled very quickly at Philly and could be the right man to lead the Eagles towards the NFC East crown this season.

Dallas Cowboys, meanwhile, earned a victory over divisional rivals New York Giants on the opening weekend in somewhat fortuitous circumstances. Tony Romo was clutch in the final quarter as he led Dallas to their 26th game-winning drive since 2008. Dallas will be full of confidence after their dramatic victory and can be backed at a very tempting 9/5.

Seattle Seahawks @ Green Bay Packers

Green Bay Packers

Green Bay Packers are one of the strongest teams in the NFC and will be keen to build on their opening weekend victory over the Chicago Bears. Aaron Rodgers is the best quarterback in the league and is capable of leading the Packers to Super Bowl glory this season, despite losing top receiver Jordy Nelson to an ACL injury.

Meanwhile, Seattle have reached the Super Bowl in each of the last two years and will be keen on featuring in the showpiece event for the third successive season. Russell Wilson now has former New Orleans Saints tight-end Jimmy Graham in his arsenal and this will give the quarterback a much-needed threat on third down. That being said, Green Bay are extremely strong at home and can be backed at 1/2 to secure a second successive win.
