SATURDAY

SALFORD RED DEVILS vs WIDNES VIKINGS

The opening fixture of the weekend sees two north-west sides go head-to-head. Salford Red Devils have been impressive at times this season and are much better than their current league standing suggests. Meanwhile, Widnes have lost each of their last seven league games. However, the Vikings have enough talent in their ranks to win this clash – if they perform at their best. This one really could go either way but I’ve sided with Widnes at 6/4.

WARRINGTON WOLVES vs CASTLEFORD TIGERS

Tony Smith’s Warrington have played some sensational rugby at times this season but fell short in their clash with the Wakefield Wildcats last weekend. The Wolves are eyeing up the regular season title and will already be looking to a potential trip to the Grand Final at Old Trafford at the end of the campaign. Castleford cannot be dismissed completely but I fancy Warrington (2/5) to get back to winning ways on Saturday afternoon.

LEEDS RHINOS vs WIGAN WARRIORS

Leeds are in disarray and I fully expect Wigan to run riot in Saturday’s late fixture. The Rhinos won the treble last season but have struggled to adapt after losing key players in the offseason. Meanwhile, Shaun Wane’s men haven’t been at their scintillating best in recent weeks but the Warriors are doing enough to get by and are still in with a sniff of claiming the regular season title. I simply have to back Wigan (4/11) in this one.

SUNDAY

WAKEFIELD WILDCATS vs CATALANS DRAGONS

This is a strange one. While Catalans are currently battling at the top of the division, Wakefield have climbed up the table after an impressive run under Chris Chester. The Wildcats have won eight of their last nine fixtures and will be quietly confident of causing an upset at St James’ Park. Catalans’ away-day demons have diminished but Wakefield (17/20) are a great price at +8.5 on the handicap.

ST HELENS vs HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS

A potential banana skin for St Helens but Keiron Cunningham’s men should have enough to put the Giants to the sword on Sunday afternoon. The Saints have struggled for consistency in recent weeks but did secure a comfortable 30-16 victory over Huddersfield on the opening weekend of the new season. Meanwhile, Paul Anderson’s men have won just three league games in 2016 and St Helens simply have to be backed at 8/11.

HULL FC vs HULL KR

What a way to end the Magic Weekend. Hull FC are Super League’s in-form side and it’s hard to look past the Airlie Birds in this one. Earlier in the season, Hull came from behind after trailing 12-0 at half-time to win 22-20 in a thrilling derby encounter but Lee Radford’s men should find this a lot easier. The Airlie Birds have won eight of their last nine matches in all competitions and are well priced at 3/10 to extend their fantastic run.
