The FA Cup semi-finals were the standout fixtures last weekend but the Premier League is back with a bang. For the second week in a row, we have televised top flight football on a Friday – Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle United head to the King Power Stadium for a clash with Leicester City.
On Saturday, viewers can watch two of the clubs involved in the Premier League top four race. Tottenham host Huddersfield in the early kick-off before Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham United attempt to exploit Manchester United’s defensive frailties at Old Trafford.
Without further ado, let’s get down to the tips. With so much football on our TV screens this weekend, there are plenty of betting angles to go down. Another entertaining weekend of Premier League football beckons – scroll down for my top tips…
LEICESTER CITY vs Newcastle United
Leicester are ‘best of the rest’ outside the top six and Brendan Rodgers’ side have started to show plenty of improvement in recent weeks. The Foxes have won four Premier League matches in a row and 4/5 for over 1.5 Leicester goals could turn out to be a huge price.
Rafa Benitez’s side are seven points clear of the relegation zone and a win here should be enough to cement their top flight status. The Magpies ran out 2-1 winners in this fixture last season and punters may be tempted by the 23/20 for Newcastle to win OR draw on Friday night.
Newcastle are inconsistent at best and Leicester are the sensible pick here. 7/10 for a home win under the King Power Stadium floodlights represents excellent value for punters.
TIP: Leicester to win @ 7/10
PREDICTED SCORE: Leicester 2-1 Newcastle (Priced at 7/1 with 888sport)
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Huddersfield Town
Spurs were outstanding against Manchester City on Tuesday night and Mauricio Pochettino may choose to prioritise next week’s second leg. However, Tottenham won’t be taking their opponents lightly – the race for the Premier League top four is well and truly on.
With the Terriers already relegated to the Championship, Huddersfield could play with some added freedom. Beaten 4-1 by Leicester last time out, the visitors will have no fear and that could lead to an end-to-end contest. 41/50 for Huddersfield to score is a solid betting option.
Expect Spurs to try and put this one to bed early on. 1/2 for Tottenham to lead at half-time is a decent price and we could see another dominant performance from the hosts.
TIP: Spurs to win the first half @ 1/2
PREDICTED SCORE: Tottenham 3-0 Huddersfield (Priced at 13/2 with 888sport)
MANCHESTER UNITED vs West Ham United
Ole’s at the wheel but United have struggled to inspire confidence in recent weeks. A run of just one win in five matches has changed the mood at Old Trafford but the Red Devils (2/5) will expect to get back to winning ways on Saturday evening.
West Ham were rampant in September’s return fixture but a lot has changed since then. The Hammers are blowing hot and cold but could prosper if Manuel Pellegrini gets his selection spot on. 2/1 for West Ham to win or draw shouldn’t be sniffed at.
United are desperate for three points as they look to close the gap on the top four. Taking everything into account, 7/4 for a home win with both teams scoring is the best bet at Old Trafford.
TIP: Man United to win and both teams to score @ 7/4
PREDICTED SCORE: Man United 2-1 West Ham (Priced at 7/1 with 888sport)
