Kitzbuhel
KITZBUHEL impressed with his jumping when making all in the Kauto Star at Kempton over Christmas and should prove hard to pass around here with the drop back in trip unlikely to be an issue. Kala Conti is the obvious threat having won both her starts over fences this season, including a Grade 2 mares novice at Cork by a wide margin.

Smart over hurdles and already looks a better chaser than a hurdler, taking the step up in class in his stride when making all in Kauto Star (Grade 1) at Kempton on Boxing Day, his jumping making it very hard for anything else to get a look-in. That style of running can be a big asset around here.DateCourseDistConditionsTypePosKempton Park3mGood (Good to Soft in places)Chase1/6Punchestown2m 2f 200ySoft to HeavyChase1/12Sandown Park2m 5f 110yGood (Good to Soft in places)Hurdle3/6Aintree3m 149yGoodHurdle5/11Gowran Park2mSoftHurdle1/6- 4Kala ContiJ: J. Useful over hurdles and made it 2 from 2 over fences in the manner of a smart chaser in Grade 2 mares novice at Cork 55 days ago, beating the reappearing Kargese by 16 lengths. Sure to make a bold bid for the hat-trick.DateCourseDistConditionsTypePosCork2m 200ySoftChase1/8Cork2m 5f 50yYielding (Yielding to Soft in places)Chase1/7Fairyhouse2m 4fSoft to HeavyHurdle10/10Cheltenham2m 3f 200yGood to SoftHurdle7/10Leopardstown2m 3f 180yGood to YieldingHurdle2/8- 3SixmilebridgeJ: Kielan WoodsE: Fergal O'Brien11d9-11Âge 79/29/24/1

Front runner who looked a smart recruit to chasing when winning Ayr maiden and Cheltenham novice (both 3-runner fields) this season. Well worth a shot at this level but does face serious competition for the lead.DateCourseDistConditionsTypePosCheltenham2m 4f 127yGood to SoftChase1/3Ayr2m 4f 110ySoft (Heavy in places)Chase1/3Cheltenham2m 5fGood to SoftHurdle9/11Cheltenham2m 4f 56ySoft (Good to Soft in places)HurdleD/7Huntingdon2m 4f 145yGood to SoftHurdle1/4- 2Miami MagicJ: Charlie HammondE: Stuart Edmunds227-331Âge 720/120/122/1

Useful over hurdles last season (runner-up in the Formby) and showed that level at the third attempt over fences this term when winning 5-runner Cheltenham novice on New Year's Day, suited by return to this trip. Significant improvement required in this company, however.DateCourseDistConditionsTypePosCheltenham2m 4f 127yGoodChase1/5Kempton Park2m 2fGood (Good to Soft in places)Chase3/5Uttoxeter1m 7f 214yGoodChase3/3Aintree2m 4fGoodHurdle7/9Kempton Park2mGood to Soft (Soft in places)Hurdle2/7
