The Open is the only golf Major to take place outside of the US and that means we have European style betting options aplenty each time the top players in the world cross the Atlantic.

Using our decimal and fractional odds systems, you can connect with this British event in a multitude of ways. Whether it's pre-tournament outright bets, in-play specials, news updates or daily bonuses, there's so much more on offer when you ante-up with us.

Indeed, regardless of whether you're using your desktop or mobile, our Open golf betting hub is on hand to offer you an experience every bit as impressive as the tournament itself.

The Open Championship History

Established in 1860 and known as the oldest golf Major, the Open Championship now welcomes players from around the world and boasts a prize pool of £6 million+. However, the tournament wasn't always as action-packed as it is today.

Until 1892, the tournament took place over 36 holes and lasted just one day. However, after increasing the number of holes to 72 and then introducing a cut in 1898, the tournament quickly expanded.

Modern incarnations of The Open feature 156 players who are given an entry ticket by way of being a top 50 ranked player or by winning a qualification tournament. Thanks to this increase in action and entrants, Open betting is now big business and here at 888Sport we aim to cover all the odds and outcomes when the event gets underway in July.
