• The Commonwealth Cup is the only Group 1 race exclusively for three-year-olds that allows the geldings to compete.

  • At 2 miles, 5 furlongs and 143 yards, the concluding Queen Alexandra Stakes is the longest race of the meeting that the horse racing commentators have to deal with.

Over the course of five days every June, top races galore take place at Ascot racecourse (the Royal meeting), and every year there are new trends and statistics to analyse.

Naturally trends and statistics are only a guide to what is likely to happen - they are not an exact science, but quite often patterns do emerge so it worth looking at races and dissecting their recent history.

It is the most valuable meeting in the United Kingdom, with the total Royal Ascot prize money eclipsing £10 million over the five days.

Lester Piggott holds the record for the most successful jockey in Royal Ascot history with 116 winners while Aidan O'Brien is the most successful trainer at Royal Ascot.

This hopefully should lead to you to picking some winners. Below is a full resume of Royal Ascot’s races each day and all the conditions of entry.

Royal Ascot Day 3 Tips

Steve Mullington with his best Royal Ascot tips, with a NAP, a NB and a Longshot running on Day 3 at the Royal meeting...

4.25 Ascot – Caius Chorister (NAP)

Having enjoyed the company of owner Clive Washbourn last Sunday for the 27 minute rail trip between Chantilly and Paris, I am of the view that his Caius Chorister can win the Ascot Gold Cup.

Currently trading at around the 12/1 mark, the five-year-old mare receives 3lbs on this occasion from the boys who have recently beaten her and she can really make that advantage count.

Caius Chorister has worked her way up from the bottom of the pile and most recently has only gone down by the narrowest of margins in the recognised Gold Cup Trials at Ascot and Sandown, both times conceding a three-pound penalty.

As you can see for yourself she has those 3lbs back in her favour today in this 2m4f Group 1.

Danger: Kyprios

5.40 Ascot – First Look (NB)

Prix du Jockey Club runner-up First Look runs for his new owners this afternoon and can land the spoils in the Group 3 Hampton Court Stakes.

Trained by the French maestro Andre Fabre, this son of Lope De Vega found only Look De Vega too good at Chantilly.

Before that effort he also finished in the same position at Chantilly behind the useful Darlinghurst. This horse could well be Wathnan Racing’s best chance of the entire Royal meeting.

Danger: Sons And Lovers

6.15 Ascot – Sous La Neige (E/W Longshot)

Lurking towards the bottom of the handicap is a former Andre Fabre-trained sprinter by the name of Sous La Neige and he could well cause a turn up in this Buckingham Place Stakes.

Now trained by Gavin Hernon, the four-year-old gelding has never been out of the frame in seven of his nine career starts and his latest run at Compiegne offered plenty of encouragement.

With much more favourable conditions today he can figure in the shake up at very generous each-way odds.

Danger: The X O

Royal Ascot Day 4 Tips

Steve Mullington with his best Royal Ascot tips, with a NAP, a NB and a Longshot running on Day 4 at the Royal meeting...

3.45 Ascot – Opera Singer (NAP)

Opera Singer looks set to take on Elmalka in a thrilling renewal of the Group 1 Coronation Stakes on Friday.

Aidan O'Brien trains the red-hot favourite Opera Singer who will be looking to build on her promising reappearance third in the Irish 1000 Guineas at the Curragh last month.

A comfortable five length winners of last season’s Prix Marcel Boussac at ParisLongchamp, I can’t really see any reason to take the Justify-filly on in the betting, even with an Oaks winner.

Danger: Rouhiya

2.30 Ascot – Hot Darling (NB)

Bought for just 25,000gns at Tattersalls sales last year, Hot Darling has already repaid that investment with back-to-back wins in France.

The daughter of Too Darn Hot followed up her debut success at Chantilly with a Listed victory at Vichy, landing her previous owners £40,000 in prize-money.

Owners Daniel Macauliffe and Anoj Don could not believe their luck the other day when the global racehorse owner by Nurlan Bizakov came in with a 460,000 guineas purchase for the filly.

Hot Darling will run in Bizakov’s colours in the six furlong Albany Stakes for fillies and for which she must have a really strong chance.

Danger: Fairy Godmother

6.15 Ascot – Scorchio (E/W Longshot)

Scorchio would be a rather aptly named winner of the 5f Palace Of Holyrood House Stakes today should she oblige.

Most punters will be unfamiliar with Irish trainer Jack Davison but most should know something about jockey Ronan Whelan.

Based in County Meath, Davison’s horses have been running pretty well in the last fortnight and this Irish raider is highly likely to go under the radar on this side of the Irish Sea.

A winner over five furlongs last month at Cork, this gutsy three-year-old filly is quick and she’s an each-way play in this contest today.

Danger: Dark Vintage
