Having climbed up the darts world rankings in recent years, the total amount of prize money won by Gerwyn Price has soared – particularly since winning the World Championship.
The Iceman won his first televised title in 2018, clinching victory in the Grand Slam of Darts to firmly put himself on the darting map.
That triumph earned him the maximum payout of £110,000 and he retained his title 12 months later, adding another £125,000 to his career prize money tally.

Money was the main motivation for Price in his early darts career but the Welshman told The Guardian that his ambition and hunger for success is growing.
“I wasn’t bothered about winning tournaments at the beginning,” Price said.
“I just wanted to win enough money so I could stay on the tour and earn a living for my family.”

Growing up as a young boy in Wales, it’s hardly a shock to hear that Gerwyn Price wanted to be a professional rugby player.
And as it turned out, Price was pretty good at the sport. In fact, he rose through the ranks and played for Welsh Premier Division sides Neath and Cross Keys.
Eventually, Price earned himself a shot at Pro14 giants Glasgow Warriors after the Scottish side were forced to look for cover for injured players.
However, he never really managed to reach the summits of the sport and made the decision to switch from rugby in 2014. And what a decision it was…
Price also tried his hand at rugby league with the South Wales Scorpions for a brief period. If his rugby career had taken off, he never would’ve matured into one of the top darts players in the world.

Is Gerwyn Price married? The answer is yes. Price and Bethan Palmer have dated since they were 17 years old and tied the knot back in 2018.

Price spoke about missing his wife Bethan whilst on tour but she is often captured at events – particularly those local to the United Kingdom.
The Welshman and his family have been the centre of social media abuse on more than one occasion but Bethan has been there to support throughout.
“They’ve gone through hell and back with the way I’ve been playing, I’ve put them under the cosh. I let them back in and put the family under pressure,” said Price.
“I think the wife’s got no nails left. Thankfully I’ve come through those games and there wasn’t too much pressure on them in the final.”

Price and his family are based in the South Wales village of Markham, having purchased their current property in 2018.
