It’s entirely apt that a glamour club such as Arsenal has an impressive rollcall of A-listers following their fortunes.

Included among the club’s famous fans are two Oscar-winners, the fastest man on four wheels and a pop princess.

Throw in a politician and a gaggle of comedians and in every corner of the celebrity world a red and white scarf can be found.

Piers Morgan

The divisive and always highly opinionated Morgan delights in winding up famous supporters of rival clubs on social media while often making outlandish claims when asked about his beloved team.

This season, the Gunners are ‘100%’ going to win the title according to the former CNN talk show host largely because Mikel Arteta is ‘the next Pep Guardiola’.

Three years prior he called Arteta ‘pathetic’ and wanted him sacked.

This is not a dig at Morgan incidentally. We have all twisted in the wind when it comes to our team. If anything, it marks him out as a genuine fan.

Alan Davies

The QI panellist and stand-up comedian hosted the Tuesday Club podcast, dedicated to all things Arsenal, for several years but stepped down in 2023.

Aged just five he was taken to Highbury for the first time and there he idolised Liam Brady until the Irish midfielder broke his heart by moving to Italy. He has described meeting him since at charity functions as ‘surreal’.

As a teen Davies stood on the North Bank but gravitated towards the West Lower when he discovered that was where numerous comedic colleagues sat.

He still attends every home match with over half a century of support to his name.

Kevin Costner

The acclaimed actor and director first experienced English football when attending Highbury in 1991, admitting later that he was totally unprepared for the passion and atmosphere.

Fast forward 25 years later and clearly that afternoon left a lasting impression. “Arsenal are my team,” he stated in a televised chat.

In Draft Day, Costner played a fictional general manager of the Cleveland Browns. Might an Oscar-worthy biopic of Arsene Wenger one day be in the offing?

Jeremy Corbyn

The politician who once gave rise to a football chant in his honour, Corbyn grew up as a Wolves fan, living nearby in Shropshire.

It was an allegiance he changed in adulthood, having two young sons who were Arsenal mad. He signed them up for the Junior Gunners and each home game the house would be full of their friends, all wolfing down breakfast before going to the game.

The MP for Islington North attends matches to this day, declining all invitations to sit in the corporate seats. His eldest son, Ben, is now a scout for the club.

Idris Elba

The star of Luther and those annoying Sky ads, Elba is a lifelong dyed-in-the-wool Gooner, regularly seen at the Emirates and rarely wasting an opportunity to antagonise their rivals in print.

He once claimed in a magazine interview that Arsenal are the only team in London, admitting the dig was primarily aimed at Chelsea supporters. He has also stated that he would be physically sick if Spurs ever won the league.

The sports betting suggests that isn’t going to happen anytime soon.

A TikTok video posted earlier this year showcased the actor’s vast shirt collection as he repeatedly emerged from his trailer donning multiple kits.

Rihanna

Attending the Emirates as a guest of honour in 2018 the singing megastar took selfies with half the squad and happily declared herself a Gooner on film.

To the best of our knowledge she wasn’t in the away end at Port Vale for Arsenal’s recent League Cup 3rd round clash.

Lewis Hamilton

The Formula One speedster’s support of the Gunners takes us through a series of S-bends.

He first adopted the red and white aged six when influenced by his big sister, and went on to achieve a lifelong ambition playing alongside his boyhood hero Thierry Henry in a charity game.

Yet in 2022 an alternative truth emerged when the seven-time World Champion joined a consortium who unsuccessfully tried to buy Chelsea.

Claiming his sister repeatedly punched him on the arm until he promised to follow her team he said, “My Uncle Terry is a big Blues fan, so I've been to so many games with him to watch Arsenal and Chelsea play. Ultimately I'm a sporting fan.”

That crunching sound you hear is Hamilton hastily putting his Arsenal support into reverse.

Anne Hathaway

Such is the glamour and global appeal of the Premier League it has inevitably enticed Hollywood royalty. To that end, Manchester United boast Julia Roberts among their supporter ranks while Tom Hanks famously follows Aston Villa.

Arsenal’s very own Oscar-winning fan is Hathaway who has recently taken to social media to proclaim her allegiance, celebrating a Leandro Trossard goal while taking a break from promoting her new film.

Additionally, singing ‘North London Forever’ on TikTok earned her massive Gooner points.

Jay-Z

The rapper’s love for Thierry Henry turned him onto the Gunners around the mid-noughties. “I just thought he was an amazing player,” he once stated, something we can all agree with.

Such is the billionaire’s love for the North London giant he has even cited an interest in buying a stake in the club while no trip to the UK is complete without a visit to the Emirates. In 2013 he was spotted in an executive box with Chris Martin from Coldplay.

Arsenal certainly don’t have 99 problems right now, with Mikel Arteta’s men favourites in the football betting to claim a fourth Premier League title.

Matt Lucas

The star of Little Britain and a string of Hollywood films is a lifelong Gooner, though he retains a love/hate relationship with the game as a whole.

In 2022 he revealed that he always felt like an outsider until he found his ‘football tribe’ yet he has also admirably spoken out about homophobia on the terraces.

Earlier this year he caused a stir criticising non-match-going Arsenal fans for their negativity towards the club’s transfer business, specifically their signing of Chelsea winger Noni Madueke.

Lucas was a season ticket holder for ‘many, many years’ until he moved to America.
