Thursday’s top Leeds United transfer news column surrounds goalkeeper Kiko Casilla, with fans demanding a summer exit after a disappointing performance in the Carabao Cup.

Casilla found himself in hot water with Leeds supporters last season and lost his place as the club’s first choice goalkeeper – a role that he has failed to recover.

The Spaniard came under scrutiny following Leeds’ shock defeat to Hull City in the League Cup on Wednesday evening. Casilla made six saves but was at fault for Hull’s opener, giving the ball away with a wayward pass.

Although he managed to save a penalty in the shootout, it wasn’t enough as the Whites crashed out of the competition and Leeds fans have blamed Casilla for that disappointing result.

With fans already losing faith in Casilla, his tenure at Leeds United could be coming to an end. The Spaniard isn’t the most popular man at the club anyway following his suspension last season and he will have done himself no favours on Wednesday night.

According to reports, Leeds value the goalkeeper at £1.8 million so it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see Casilla head for the Elland Road exit if a club can match that figure.

Leeds fans will be hoping that Casilla leaves the club before the end of the transfer window. On Wednesday’s performance, he won’t be given many more chances to prove himself.

Summerville Attitude Under Scrutiny

Feyenoord fans have warned Leeds about Dutch youngster Crysencio Summerville after the 18-year-old completed his move to Elland Road on Wednesday.

Undoubtedly talented, supporters of the Eredivisie giants referred to Summerville as a ‘problem’, even wishing good luck to Leeds after the deal was officially announced.

If Marcelo Bielsa can find a way to tame Summerville, he has the skillset to mature into the full package. On paper, he has a very bright future ahead at the highest level of the game.

However, temperament and attitude are very important in football. Summerville will need to prove his worth before he is deemed responsible enough to play at Elland Road.

According to reports in Holland, Summerville received a hefty fine after his involvement in a clash with team-mate Mats Knoester at the Feyenoord training ground.

While being a hothead isn’t necessarily an issue, fighting with teammates is a problem and Bielsa will be looking to stamp that out during his early days in west Yorkshire.

Feyenoord found it hard to tie Summerville down to a new deal, with the youngster pushing for a summer departure amid interest from a number of Premier League clubs.

In the end, Leeds offered the most lucrative package for Feyenoord and the rest is history. He is a high risk, high reward signing but could thrive on the biggest stage of all.
