Chelsea youngster Conor Gallagher could be set for a switch to Elland Road before the end of the summer transfer window, according to the latest Leeds United transfer news.

Per the Daily Mail, Leeds are hoping to sign Gallagher on a permanent deal despite ongoing talks with parent club Chelsea over a new contract at Stamford Bridge.

The latest transfer rumours suggest that the Blues will entertain loan offers for Gallagher in the 2020/21 campaign but Frank Lampard is unlikely to let the 20-year-old leave for good.

With the likes of West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa also showing interest in the England man, Leeds face stiff competition to acquire Gallagher before the transfer window closes.

While the Whites are hoping to sign Gallagher on a permanent contract, Chelsea are standing firm over a potential move for the youngster – stating that he is not for sale.

Leeds’ recruitment has stalled in recent weeks, though deals for Rodrigo de Paul and Josko Gvardiol are still on the cards with a month of the transfer window remaining.

As reported here, the Whites are optimistic of a dream move for Paris Saint-Germain star Julian Draxler before the end of September. It would be some coup for the Elland Road side if they can sign the Germany international.

Former Premier League Striker Expects Bamford To Struggle

Kevin Phillips believes that Patrick Bamford will struggle to cope with the demands of the Premier League this season.

The former European Golden Shoe winner has claimed that Bamford should be used mainly as an impact player off the bench, with Rodrigo taking centre stage at Elland Road.

Speaking to Football Insider, Phillips said: “He’s obviously more experienced but he didn’t score too many goals in the Championship and now you’re going up to the Premier League.

“He’ll start the odd game, I just think it will be difficult for him because he didn’t really score the goals that Leeds were expecting last year.

“He chipped in with a few but now he’s going to be playing against better opposition I think it will be difficult for him.”

Jelavic Encourages Countryman To Join Leeds

Croatia striker Nikica Jelavic has urged Dinamo Zagreb youngster Josko Gvardiol to move to Elland Road this summer.

Reports have linked Gvardiol with a switch to the Premier League in recent weeks, with some media sources stating that the club have made a £19.9 million bid for the player.

Speaking to Sportske Novosti, Jelavic said: “My personal opinion is that Gvardiol’s departure to Leeds would be a huge step forward.

“By going to Leeds, the young stopper will lose absolutely nothing. He can only make more progress in the Premiership.
