Leeds United transfer news has been spectacular over the last few days with the permanent signings of Robin Koch and Rodrigo announced over the weekend.

According to the Daily Mail, it’s going to get yet more exciting for the Elland Road faithful with Marcelo Bielsa planning a further four signings.

Bielsa clearly has a significant transfer budget, having already broken the club’s record signing. Four more players could be on their way, with a goalkeeper, two central midfielders and a winger at the top of Bielsa’s wishlist.

After so long out of the top flight, no one can question Leeds’ ambition in the transfer market.

Bielsa clearly has his eyes on more than safety – Leeds could be constructing a squad to push for a top half finish if players like Rodrigo De Paul follow Koch and Rodrigo Moreno to Yorkshire.

TalkSport Pundit Delivers Leeds Verdict

TalkSport pundit Ally McCoist has spoken of his delight to see Leeds back in the Premier League, calling the Whites a ‘big, big club’.

Speaking on the Breakfast Show, McCoist said, “Leeds are a big big club who create talking points. They’ve been out of the Premier League for far too long.

"I’m ecstatic that they’re back. I am ecstatic. And they’ve got a tough opener. If fans were there it would be tremendous, but we’re getting there.”

McCoist, like many others, is excited to see Bielsa up against the best managers in the world.

“I think it’s magic they’re back in the top flight. To see Bielsa go up against Klopp, Guardiola…. it will be brilliant, won’t it? Without getting carried away, I would be very, very hopeful of a mid-table finish.”

Leeds’ transfer window so far will certainly have developed Premier League Odds confidence in them. Bielsa has worked wonders at the club so far – McCoist won’t be the last to label Leeds as a top half team.

Phillips Hails Rodrigo Signing

Former England striker Kevin Phillips has praised Leeds’ signing of Spanish international Rodrigo. Phillips claims it could prove to be ‘unbelievable business’.

Speaking to Football Insider, Phillips said, “He knows what he is doing and while it is a lot of money he is bringing in a proven goalscorer.

"Rodrigo has done it in a tough European league. It does not mean everything because we saw many strikers come into new teams last season and struggle to score goals.”

Phillips was wary of the fee Leeds paid, and noted it could be more than the club wanted to spend.

“If I am a Leeds supporter, that is a decent signing. It may have cost a bit more than they would have liked to pay but if he keeps them in the Premier League it turns out to be unbelievable business.”

Naturally, Phillips touched on Bielsa’s ability as a coach and the importance it will play for their star signing.

“Bielsa has that record of getting the best out of players. He did it with Bamford last season. Rodrigo now needs to hit the ground running.”

How Rodrigo fares could have a major impact on how competitive Leeds are in 2020-21.
