Competing in their fourth consecutive World Cup, Iran are sports betting outsiders to win Group G - and understandably so with the likes of Belgium, Egypt and New Zealand up against them.

They have won matches at each of the last two tournaments, however, and have a decent chance of making it into the knockout phase thanks to the revamped tournament format.

What is the average salary for Iran players?

The average salary for the top domestic players in Iranian football is around £12,000. The majority of Iran’s World Cup squad play for Iranian clubs, with exceptions like Mehdi Taremi unlikely to have too much of an impact on the average.

Of course, the salary figures in the Persian Gulf Pro League vary depending on a players credentials, and the club they are representing. Exact numbers are not publicly available for most Iranian footballers.

Who are the top earning players for Iran?

Taremi was on roughly £50,000 during his time with Inter and Alireza Jahanbakhsh was on a similar figure when he was briefly at Brighton. Both are believed to have taken pay cuts with their current clubs.

Taremi joined Olympiacos in 2025, and Jahanbakhsh will be on considerably less than £50,000 per week with Dender. If you enjoy a bet on football, chances are you'll be well aware of both players from their domestic careers.

How much does the Iran manager earn?

Amir Ghalenoei’s salary has not been disclosed. He will be on less than some previous Iran managers, including Marc Wilmots, who was being paid more than £2.5 million per year.

Dragan Skočić, another of Ghalenoei’s predecessors, was reportedly on £300,000. That’s closer to what we expect Ghalenoei is earning.
