What Happened In The 2025 Champion Hurdle?
Jeremy Scott’s mare Golden Ace was the shock 25-1 winner of the Champion Hurdle after previous victors Constitution Hill and State Man fell in separate incidents.
The 2023 champion Constitution Hill was sent off the odds-on favourite but came down early on in proceedings.
2024 winner State Man looked to have the race at his mercy before a dramatic fall at the last flight ended that dream.
That left Golden Ace, ridden by Lorcan Williams, to come through and win by nine lengths from 66-1 outsider Burdett Road.
Full result: 1st Golden Ace 25/1, 2nd Burdett Road 66/1 (Ex: £346.60 CSF: £443.28) 7 ran.
Champion Hurdle News 2026
Leading lights Sir Gino, Lossiemouth, The New Lion and Constitution Hill are among 16 entries for the Champion Hurdle on the opening day of The Festival.
Nicky Henderson’s Sir Gino heads the ante-post market at 11/8 having landed the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton Park on Boxing Day.
2023 hero Constitution Hill has failed to complete in three of his last four races and will have a run on the all-weather at Southwell before embarking upon another Champion Hurdle bid.
The New Lion was another to fall in the Fighting Fifth on his return to action, and he is due to clash with Sir Gino in the International Hurdle on Trials day.
Lossiemouth’s price for this race has drifted, with her odds coming in for the Mares’ Hurdle instead.
