The Super Sprint Trophy is a flat race held at Newbury Racecourse for two-year-old thoroughbreds and was first run in 1991.
The race is currently restricted to horses sold as yearlings at Weatherbys sales for 37,000 guineas or less before July 1st, or 40,000 guineas or less after June 30th. The weights carried are determined by the sale price of the horses, with one pound deducted for each 2,500 guineas below 40,000.
The Weatherbys Super Sprint quite often produces a fairytale story and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top at Newbury this Saturday.

The form of his first three runs has worked out well but he found the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot last time a little too hot. This race will be more to his liking.
Kyllwind (Martyn Meade / James Doyle)
He has shown nothing in his first two runs to suggest that he can land a prize like this. The booking of James Doyle is interesting however.
Ventura Rebel (Richard Fahey / Paul Hanagan)
Went down by a neck in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot and looks like the one they all have to beat on paper. The trainer has won this race three times in the last six years.
Clay Regazzoni (Keith Dalgleish / Jim Crowley)
Found the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot too demanding after starting off the season with two decent runner-up spots. Trainer currently has a decent strike rate.
Audio (Richard Hannon / Pat Dobbs)
Consistently placed but hasn’t shown enough to make us believe that he will break his winless streak here.
Show Me Show Me (Richard Fahey / Paddy Mathers)
Ran a decent race behind Monoski at Pontefract last time and is owned by the Ontoawinner syndicate who have tasted success at the highest level. Could be an each-way player.
Great Dame (David O'Meara / David Probert)
Likeable filly who has already run six times this season and won two of them. She is sure to run her usual game race.
Manolith (David O'Meara / Jason Watson)
Won at Ripon at the end of April but has failed to get his head in front since. A York run last week should have sharpened him up.
Mighty Spirit (Richard Fahey / P J McDonald)
John Dance-owned filly who has been knocking on the door in all of her four runs this season. She could well be the main danger to her stablemate favourite.
River Of Kings (Keith Dalgleish / Fergus Sweeney)
Look to the other Ontoawinner runners as this one won’t be troubling the judge.
Emten (Jamie Osborne / Nicola Currie)
Ran her heart out to finish fifth in the Norfolk Stakes against the colts and she will be suited by the quicker ground in this. She has to be in the reckoning.
Never In Paris (Karl Burke / Ben Curtis)
A comfortable winner of a hot little fillies’ race at Nottingham a fortnight ago and there looks to be plenty more to come. Jockey is having a good time of things at the moment too.
Dearly Beloved (Keith Dalgleish / Rowan Scott)
You really will need to be a church-goer to believe that this one can win this feature race but who am I to preach?
Charlemaine (Paul Cole / Josephine Gordon)
Finished in the rear division in the Windsor Castle Stakes and had won a race at Brighton prior to that. Doesn’t look the most the most obvious choice but the jockey will have her supporters.
Electric Ladyland (Archie Watson / Luke Morris)
Won her first two races on the all-weather and ran in mid-division in the Windsor Castle Stakes. She is certainly has plenty of racecourse experience.
Separate (Richard Hannon / Andrea Atzeni)
Second to Hand On My Heart at Windsor last time and appears to be a useful filly. Should be suited by this bigger field and a more tactical race.
Seraphinite (Jamie Osborne / Shane Kelly)
Ran well down the field in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and looks to have a future on the all-weather rather than on the turf.
Dynamighty (Richard Spencer / Sean Kirrane)
Has failed to finish within five lengths of the winner on three occasions thus far and would be a shock winner of this race.
Bettys Hope (Rod Millman / Silvestre De Sousa)
The filly only cost £3,000 and has already taken her earnings to £20,000 as she bids for more prize money here. Trainer won the race back in 1997 with Lord Kintyre. Form figures read well but this is marked step up in class for her.
Ocasio Cortez (Richard Hannon / Franny Norton)
Hannon has a decent record in this race and this is another of his runners that is worth a cautionary look in the betting. Norton comes in for the ride.
Baileys In Bloom (Richard Fahey / Royston Ffrench)
Has been running well around the Yorkshire tracks and deserves a crack at this bigger prize. Obviously the trainer hard to rule out.
Bacchalot (Richard Fahey / John Fahy)
Has plenty to do on all known form and even though Richard Fahey trains him her she will need a miracle to figure in this.
Maybellene (George Scott / Jimmy Quinn)
Maybe it’s Maybellene’s turn to land a big Saturday race? If she can build upon her two races so far she’s not the silliest 40/1 shot in the horse racing odds you’ll back this weekend.
Odyssey Girl (Richard Spencer / Liam Jones)
Winner on her racecourse debut over six furlongs at Newbury and clearly a very well tuned filly. Everybody loves a grey too right?
Daddies Diva (Rod Millman / Raul Da Silva)
The second of the two Millman runners but hasn’t achieved quite as much as her stablemate. Would be a fairytale winner her jockey.
Super Sprint 2019: Conclusion
I was really taken by the way Never In Paris (nap) won at Nottingham and will stick with her again here. Emten (nb) is also worth an each-way saver too.
