Despite continued interest in Fiorentina midfielder Erick Pulgar, today’s Leeds United transfer news reports state that the club are set to pull out of a potential move.
According to reports in Italy, the Serie A club are refusing to budge on their £13.5 million valuation for the South American but Leeds are set to pull the plug on a deal.
La Nazione believe that the Whites were ‘serious’ about signing the Fiorentina star but a change in circumstances at Elland Road has persuaded Marcelo Bielsa to look elsewhere.
Pulgar is reportedly keen on a move to the Premier League but it looks like Leeds are now prioritising a deal for Manchester United winger Dan James instead.
The Athletic journalist Phil Hay seconds this, tweeting that Leeds like James but are relying on Man United for a potential move while confirming that Pulgar is no longer a target.
Leeds have been linked with a raid for three Serie A midfielders this season, with the likes of Rodrigo De Paul and Ruslan Malinovskyi attracting plenty of media attention.
According to various sources, the Atalanta star is worth around half of De Paul – which could tempt Leeds to consider the Ukrainian international.
With interest in Pulgar cooling, Leeds fans will be hoping that the Whites focus on De Paul as they look to bolster their squad for the remainder of the Premier League season.
Kent Release Clause Set At £20 Million
Ryan Kent has been one of the top Leeds United player rumours of the summer and Football Insider have now revealed that the Rangers midfielder has a £20 million release clause in his contract.
Reports state that Leeds could trigger a summer exit from Ibrox if they can match this figure despite Rangers standing firm over Kent’s status at the club.
Steven Gerrard has claimed that Kent is not for sale this summer, having rejected a bid of around £10 million for the Rangers star less than three months ago.
Rangers added the clause in his contract after the 23-year-old joined the club last summer and Marcelo Bielsa’s side will be monitoring the situation closely in the coming weeks.
Ryan Kent is back on Leeds United's wanted list as Marcelo Bielsa looks to strengthen his side after an exciting return to top flight football.

Having left Liverpool for £7 million last year, Rangers would make a hefty profit on Kent if he was to depart this summer. Leeds fans will be hoping that a decision is made sooner rather than later…
Bielsa is keen on an a versatile attacking midfielder as he looks to add strength in depth but Victor Orta and the board are in favour of a move for Liverpool’s Harry Wilson.
Something has to give in this situation. Most Leeds supporters will agree that trusting Bielsa is the way to go after his exploits during his Elland Road career.
