According to today’s biggest Leeds United transfer news stories, Marcelo Bielsa’s men are considering a move for AZ Alkmaar captain Teun Koopmeiners.

The Daily Telegraph report that the Yorkshire giants are set to bid for the Alkmaar star after Pablo Hernandez suffered an injury before Leeds’ clash with Fulham last week.

Koopmeiners is an established player in the Eredivisie and he certainly ticks the boxes to suggest that he would thrive in the Premier League.

With moves for Udinese midfielder Rodrigo De Paul and Atalanta star Ruslan Malinovskyi stalling, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see Leeds focus their efforts on Koopmeiners.

The Whites have been active throughout the summer transfer window and Koopmeiners is reportedly available for a much lower fee than the players mentioned above.

At 22 years old, Koopmeiners is still maturing and he could yet develop into an elite talent in the attacking midfield position.

The youngster made 25 appearances for Alkmaar last season, scoring 11 goals while also averaging respectable figures for tackles, shots and key passes per game.

This is a very interesting link and one that Leeds United player rumours followers will be keeping a close eye on ahead of transfer deadline day.

Leeds Head Chase For Gyrano Kerk

Reports in the Netherlands claim that Leeds are leading the way in the race to sign attacker Gyrano Kerk from FC Utrecht.

Linked with the likes of Cagliari and Hellas Verona already this summer, Kerk looks set to depart before the end of the current transfer window.

The 24-year-old has been the subject of interest from other clubs across Europe but Leeds are now in pole position to sign Kerk for an estimated £9.1 million.

According to De Telegraaf, the Whites are on the verge of agreeing a deal with Utrecht for Kerk’s services though an official bid has yet to be confirmed.

Kerk is known for his incredible speed – he is not too dissimilar to Manchester United star Dan James, who was also linked with Leeds earlier this month.

The Utrecht man made 30 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring 11 goals and providing 12 assists for his teammates.

If Leeds can force a deal through before the end of the summer transfer window, he could thrive at Elland Road as the Whites try to secure their Premier League status.

Too Many ‘What Ifs’ Over Dan James

Leeds have pulled the plug on a potential move for Wales winger Dan James, with reports suggesting that the Whites would have to fork out an extortionate sum of money to sign the Manchester United man.

Bielsa is a fan of James but Leeds are sticking to their valuation of James, which is some way off matching United’s figure.

With a stalemate over James’ asking price, it looks like the Welshman will stay at Old Trafford for the time being – though Leeds may reconsider a move in January if circumstances allow.
