Championship Betting Preview: Birmingham City vs Nottingham Forest (February 2nd 2019)

BIRMINGHAM CITY vs Nottingham Forest: Best Bets

Blues – 5/4

Draw – 41/20

Nottingham Forest – 49/20

Birmingham showed plenty of courage and resilience in the 3-3 draw at Swansea City earlier this week, playing the entire second half with 10 men after Kristian Pederson’s red card.

The Blues, now up to 12th in the Championship table, will look to claim three points at home to Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.

Garry Monk’s side are priced at 5/4 with 888sport to emerge victorious at St Andrew’s this weekend – punters will fancy the Blues to snatch a win after Tuesday’s performance.

With a bit of luck, a first home win since Boxing Day could be on the cards…

Che Adams has scored in each of his last four Championship fixtures and 888sport football betting odds have the Blues star at 19/10 to get his name on the scoresheet this weekend.

One of the most prolific frontmen in the division, Adams could be Birmingham’s difference maker once again.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest have gone through a difficult spell in recent weeks.

Martin O’Neill’s side had lost three matches in a row before last week’s 3-1 victory over Wigan Athletic – visiting fans may fancy the 49/20 for a Forest win. A win could see O’Neill’s men climb up to seventh in the table.

Birmingham fans, 888sport are going 7/2 for Adams to score in a home win this weekend.

With 15 goals in all competitions already this season, the 22-year-old will be looking to extend his fine run of form when Forest visit St Andrew’s on Saturday afternoon. Adams can inspire Birmingham to a huge win.

Both teams to score looks like an absolute shoo-in this weekend. Forest fought back from two goals down to salvage a draw back in August but Birmingham are much stronger now.

Our bet of the day is priced at 17/20 but Blues fans may prefer the 4/1 for both teams to score with Birmingham coming out on top.

Prediction: Birmingham 2-1 Forest (8/1)

Bet of the day: Both teams to score (17/20)

Outside punt: Birmingham to win and both teams to score (4/1)

Enhanced wincast: Che Adam to score and Birmingham to win (7/2)

Dublin Racing Festival 2019: Weekend Preview

With British racing looking like being completed decimated this weekend due to the cold snap, here at 888sport we are going to divert our attentions instead towards the Emerald Isle.

So, without further ado, let's take a look at some of the feature races at the Dublin Racing Festival.

Irish Gold Cup (3rd February)

Three horses have won both this race and the Cheltenham Gold Cup in the same year, those being Jodami, Imperial Call, and Sizing John.

Whether any horse in this race can emulate those greats at Prestbury Park remains to be seen, but there will certainly be lots of betting horse racing interest in Leopardstown’s feature race this weekend.

Willie Mullins has won this contest on nine occasions, including three on the bounce from 2011-2013.

In more recent years, Jessica Harrington took this and then the Gold Cup with Sizing John and Joseph O’Brien came through and surprised everybody last year with Edwulf.

Main Contenders

Road To Respect, fourth in the last season’s Gold Cup, is the current favourite in the market.

He was an impressive winner of the JN.Wine Champion Chase on his seasonal reappearance before finishing third in the Christmas Chase where a string of unfortunate events checked his run in the closing stages of the race.

Monalee, second in the RSA, must have some sort of a chance.

Henry De Bromhead’s eight-year-old is an extremely sound jumper but has not always been the strongest stayer at this trip. A bit more mental fortitude is all he needs to figure in this.

Al Boum Photo was the winner of the Powers Gold Cup last season in a very successful novice season.

He was impressive on his return in the Savills Chase when beating the likes of Total Recall and the subsequent Thyestes Chase winner Invitation Only.

Kemboy is an extremely progressive seven-year-old and must be in with a shout of completing a Grade 1 double this weekend.

He has looked a different horse since falling in the Irish Grand National, with four straight wins, and Danny Mullins gets on with him well. His tactical speed should once again come to the fore in this race and he is a big player for the top honours.

Bellshill, a Punchestown Gold Cup winner, made a fine reappearance in the Christmas Chase, making up late ground after a solid round of jumping.

He should come on for that run, and a stronger pace here should suit his running style better.

Anibale Fly is a horse currently flying under the radar in the betting, which is strange really considering he was third in the Gold Cup – ahead of Road To Respect, and then fourth in the Grand National.

A course and distance winner, he will have to put his Hilly Way Chase performance behind him, but a return to form would give him a great shout.

He was beaten on his return over two miles last year before romping home with the Paddy Power Chase, so there is every chance he could put in a repeat performance in this.

The Willie Mullins-trained Total Recall, previously trained by Sandra Hughes, took two notable scalps last season, the Munster National at Limerick and Newbury’s Ladbrokes Trophy.

Those results earned him a crack at the Gold Cup at Cheltenham, where he was still travelling well on the heels of the leaders, when falling three from home.

He appears to be bubbling just under his best so far this season and with a small step forward he could easily make the grade once again.

Other Big Races At Dublin Racing Festival

Undoubtedly the Irish Gold Cup is the focal point of the weekend but there are plenty of other high quality races taking place over the course of Saturday and Sunday. Here are some horses to look out for:

Saturday (1.25pm) - Min

Willie Mullins took the inaugural running of the Grade 1 Dublin Chase at last year's Dublin Festival with Min and he can repeat the feat again this year.

Stablemate Footpad is vying for favouritism but has plenty to prove after finishing second to Simply Ned at Leopardstown last time out.

Saturday (2pm) - Kocknanuss

The Gary Moore-trained Knocknanuss found only the well-regarded French runner, Master Dino, too good for him at Plumpton last time and heads to Leopardstown with a really solid chance of picking up the spoils.

Le Richebourg is certainly going to be the horse to beat here but Moore’s British raider will certainly lead them all a merry dance from the get go and is worth taking on the favourite with.

Sunday (12:40pm) - Sassy Diva

Sassy Diva has not been out of the first three in two seasons and can be taken to run another good race at a decent each-way price in this race.

She runs off just 10st and is certainly one to watch for in this opening Mares Handicap Hurdle.

Sunday (3pm) - Delta Work

This will be Delta Work’s toughest task to date but he can maintain his unbeaten record, even with the likes of La Bague Au Roi and Winter Escape snapping at his heels.

Delta Work’s stamina will be vital in this race and it will be what gives him even stronger favouritism in the RSA betting at The Festival after the conclusion of this contest.

Sunday (4:10pm) - Cubomania

The Abbey International Leopardstown Handicap Chase can go the way of the Gordon Elliott-trained Cubomania who has been knocking on the door on his last couple of runs.

His half-length second in the Dan Moore is very good form and he is well worth an each-way punt here.

Premier League: Sunday 3rd February 2019 Betting Tips And Odds

This Sunday sees two fantastic Premier League fixtures. Manchester United look to bounce-back from Wednesday's disappointing draw with Burnley against an unpredictable Leicester side, while Manchester City host Arsenal.

It is a big day in the top four race and could be huge for the title race. Here are a few thoughts and tips from 888sport’s Premier League odds and betting markets...

    LEICESTER CITY vs MANCHESTER UNITED

Leicester have suffered a challenging start to 2019, having been knocked out of the FA Cup and had several poor league results.

Claude Puel is a man under pressure. The Foxes played well in midweek to take a point against Liverpool, which was a much-needed positive result after losing a 4-3 thriller to Wolves in their previous league outing.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had his first blip as Manchester United manager in midweek. United needed two late goals to draw with Burnley, but still made ground in their top four pursuit thanks to Chelsea’s heavy defeat to Bournemouth.

Crucially, United’s performance was still good. It was not a return to the dark days of Mourinho, they created plenty of chances to win the match, and would have come out as comfortable victors on another day.

The late comeback was a throwback to Alex Ferguson’s tenure and, despite the result being disappointing, there was a positive feeling about the match for United afterwards.

Leicester are an up-and-down side. They have struggled against inferior opponents but have shown their best form against the big boys. We saw that again in midweek and the victories against Manchester City and Chelsea are still fresh in the memory.

The contest between James Maddison and Nemanja Matic will be key. Matic has performed well under Solskjaer and Maddison has been superb this season.

Stopping the former Norwich man is key to nullifying Jamie Vardy, who could cause all sorts of problems on the counter.

This should be an entertaining match with both sides looking to attack at pace. It could go either way, with United the favourites – over 3.5 goals looks the best bet.

    TIP: Over 3.5 goals @ 21/10

PREDICTED SCORE: Leicester 2-2 Manchester United at 11/1

    MANCHESTER CITY vs ARSENAL

Manchester City’s midweek defeat to Newcastle has seen their Premier League outright odds to retain the title slip to 7/4. City got lucky that Liverpool dropped points too, meaning the gap only extended to five points rather than seven.

Arsenal were on the verge of their own midweek disappointment but managed to scrape past Cardiff at the Emirates.

The Gunners moved into fourth spot on goal difference with the victory, though they could be down in sixth by the time they kick-off at the Etihad on Sunday afternoon.

Unai Emery is still dealing with an injury crisis. Nacho Monreal will likely start at centre-back again with Laurent Koscielny expected to be unavailable. Ainsley Maitland-Niles missed out against Cardiff, but Emery needs him to be fit for the trip to the northwest.

Pep Guardiola may wring the changes after a poor display against Newcastle. Gabriel Jesus might get the nod up top, while Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva could return to the line-up.

Raheem Sterling is City’s key man for this clash, facing Arsenal’s makeshift defence and potentially Maitland-Niles at right-back. Sterling is well worth backing at 11/10 to score anytime.

Arsenal have failed to win in their last five away Premier League matches. Manchester City have won 12 of 13 league matches at home. This should be a competitive match, though, considering their contrasting results in midweek.

The Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette partnership will fancy their chances of causing problems against City’s defence, but the hosts will feel much the same.

City are 3/10 to get back to winning ways in front of their own fans. Expect plenty of goals on Sunday.

    TIP: Over 3.5 goals @ 22/25

PREDICTED SCORE: Manchester City 3-2 Arsenal (Priced at 16/1 with 888sport)

Premier League: Saturday 2nd February 2019 Betting Tips And Odds

It’s not often we get treated to midweek Premier League football. The FA Cup schedule was the reason for it this past week, and it gave us some stunning entertainment on Tuesday and Wednesday - as well as major shifts in outright betting, Premier League top goal scorer odds and more.

England’s top flight is back to its weekend home. Saturday has seven fixtures, and here we take a look at four of the 3pm kick-offs.

BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION vs WATFORD

After being held to a 0-0 draw by West Brom in the FA Cup last weekend, Brighton crumbled at Craven Cottage on Tuesday.

Chris Hughton’s side were 2-0 up against the struggling west London outfit, but had a disastrous second half to lose 4-2, their third consecutive league defeat. Hughton’s side need to halt their slide to avoid being pulled into the relegation scrap.

Watford saw an unbeaten run come to an end away to Tottenham on Wednesday. The Hornets conceded twice in the final 10 minutes to relinquish a one-goal lead. Javi Gracia will likely rotate for this match, having had a day less to recover than their hosts.

Brighton are very hard to beat in front of their own fans. Watford have a good record on the road too - this should a well-fought clash. Sitting on the fence is the best bet.

    TIP: Under 2.5 goals @ 4/6

PREDICTED SCORE: Brighton 1-1 Watford (Priced at 5/1 with 888sport)

    BURNLEY vs Southampton

Burnley had a two-goal lead at Old Trafford with four minutes left in normal time on Tuesday. A late comeback from the hosts meant the Clarets had to settle for a solitary point.

The result extended their league unbeaten streak to five matches and pulls them four points above the relegation zone. A lot of the recent good work could be undone with a defeat here.

Southampton fought back to get a 1-1 draw at home to Crystal Palace in midweek. Ralph Hasenhuttl has turned things around to an extent but they are only four points above 18th-placed Cardiff. Saints are heading in the right direction though...

This is a big match for both sides. Home advantage just edges it in Burnley’s favour, though double chance may be the way to go.

TIP: Burnley to win or draw @ 4/9

PREDICTED SCORE: Burnley 1-0 Southampton (Priced at 7/1 with 888sport)

    CHELSEA vs Huddersfield Town

Chelsea’s turbulent 2019 continued on Wednesday as they suffered a humiliating 4-0 loss to Bournemouth. Maurizio Sarri saw his side fall apart in the second period, and he complained again about not being able to motivate his players.

Chelsea are now outside the top four on goal difference and are up against it to finish in the Champions League places considering their difficult remaining schedule.

Jan Siewert’s first match as Huddersfield boss went the same way as many of David Wagner’s did. Huddersfield did little wrong, limiting Everton to few opportunities and having a lot of possession.

The startling lack of quality in the final third cost Huddersfield again as they failed to create any real chances despite Everton playing with 10 men for half an hour. The Terriers are 12 points from safety and will be starting to plan for a return to the Championship.

This is the ideal Premier League fixture for Sarri after the midweek disaster. Questions about his future will be asked if he fails to win this one.

TIP: Chelsea to win @ 1/6

PREDICTED SCORE: Chelsea 2-1 Huddersfield (Priced at 9/1 with 888sport)

    Everton vs WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS

Everton got a crucial win away to Huddersfield on Tuesday. They showed resilience to hold on with 10 men after Lucas Digne was sent off, but it was hardly a vintage performance before that.

Marco Silva’s side were wasteful in the final third and lacked a cutting edge, they face a big test against an in-form Wolves on Saturday.

Wolves have won their last two in the league, beating Leicester and West Ham. The Midlands club are a strong contender for ‘best of the rest’ this season – their performances have exaggerated Everton’s disappointing campaign to date.

The visitors are in fine form right now and will be full of confidence after crushing the Hammers. Everton are still a dysfunctional unit and could struggle here.

TIP: Wolves to win or draw @ 8/13

PREDICTED SCORE: Everton 1-3 Wolves (Priced at 22/1 with 888sport)

Premier League: Saturday 2nd February TV Betting Tips & Odds

Saturday’s televised Premier League games aren’t the most attractive on paper but another huge day of top-flight English football awaits.

Tottenham and Newcastle kick things off at Wembley before an emotional clash in South Wales in Saturday’s evening Premier League fixture.

It is Cardiff’s first home game since the tragic disappearance of new signing Emiliano Sala and the Bluebirds will want to mark the occasion with a win..

Bournemouth, fresh from their 4-0 victory over Chelsea, will head to the Cardiff City Stadium with the intention of notching a third Premier League win in a row.

We’ve found a tasty double that pays out at around 3/1 in 888sport Premier League Odds ahead of this weekend’s action – let’s get straight down to the betting tips and odds…

    TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Newcastle United

Tottenham had to do things the hard way on Wednesday night, coming back from a goal down with 10 minutes to go against Watford.

That kind of resilience should serve Spurs well in the long term but Mauricio Pochettino’s men will want to make life easier for themselves on Saturday – 6/5 for a home win to nil is worth considering.

Can Newcastle do it again? Surely not. Rafa Benitez’s men did themselves (and Liverpool) a huge favour by beating Manchester City on Tuesday night and confidence will be high.

Punters may be tempted by the 41/20 for Newcastle to avoid defeat this weekend. Backing against Tottenham is easier with both Dele Alli and Harry Kane side-lined to be fair…

Newcastle will be chomping at the bit to get back on the pitch after Tuesday’s win but the Magpies may come crashing down to earth.

Benitez’s side have improved away from home in 2018/19 but backing the visitors would be foolish. 6/5 for Spurs to score in both halves is my top tip. Tottenham should be too strong in front of an expectant Wembley crowd.

TIP: Tottenham to score in both halves @ 6/5

PREDICTED SCORE: Tottenham 2-0 Newcastle (Priced at 6/1 with 888sport)

    CARDIFF CITY vs AFC BOURNEMOUTH

Neil Warnock’s men were excellent in the first half at Arsenal on Tuesday night but the Gunners turned on the style in the second half. Still, the Bluebirds will take positives from that 2-1 defeat given the circumstances.

Sala’s disappearance has shocked the football world. Cardiff fans will be preparing for an emotional occasion on Saturday night and Warnock’s side (2/1) could claim all three points.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth will be full of confidence ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash. Eddie Howe’s men were rampant against Chelsea on Wednesday night – much to the delight of Cherries supporters.

7/5 for the visitors to emerge victorious is a decent price. Bournemouth could climb up to seventh in the table this weekend and that should act as motivation to notch another win.

The visitors will take some stopping in their pursuit of finishing 2018/19 as “best of the rest” behind the top six. If Bournemouth emulate Wednesday’s performance, the Cherries will take some stopping.

For me, both teams to score is the way to go here at 4/6. Cardiff need to take advantage of their remaining home fixtures whilst Bournemouth are in decent form – this could turn out to be one of the most surprising games of the weekend.

TIP: Both teams to score @ 4/6

PREDICTED SCORE: Cardiff 2-2 Bournemouth (Priced at 12/1 with 888sport)

Rene Meulensteen EXCLUSIVE: Bringing Solskjaer Back Was A Masterstroke!

Former Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen is delighted to see his one-time prodigy Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prove such an early success in the hot-seat at Old Trafford.

In an exclusive interview with 888sport he reveals what the Norwegian is doing to help blow the cobwebs away after Jose Mourinho’s reign.

“Ole has positively reinforced to the players what it means to be playing for a club the size of Manchester United. Secondly he has reintroduced the enjoyment of playing.

"This is clearly seen in how the players are now trying to express themselves. They play with an urgency and an attacking flair now, something that was previously lacking.

“The most important thing is what has been taken away from Manchester United since Sir Alex Ferguson left. The identity that United stood for slipped away and that’s why it’s such a masterstroke in that respect to bring Ole back.

"He is injecting Manchester United with that same sort of identity that he was part of. The board and everybody need to understand that’s what they need to protect.”

It was an identity that Meulensteen himself helped maintain, having spent six successful years as Sir Alex Ferguson’s assistant in a dominant era for the club.

With that in mind does the widely respected 54 year old believe Solskjaer should be given the manager job on a permanent basis?

“Ole was very well aware when he was asked to step in that it was as an interim manager and that remains the case.

"I’ve worked with him for a long time and Ole is not the kind of guy to expect anything. Instead he will just concentrate on doing his job and right now he’s doing a fantastic job.

“The team was previously somewhat stifled in their approach and the freedom and expression that has come into the team now is making a massive difference.”

It’s a difference seen not just in the team as a whole but more pertinently in individuals, with Marcus Rashford in particular looking like a player reborn under the new management.

How important is it for a creative talent to feel like he has the trust of the person staring out from the technical area?

“Having the faith of your coach is massively important. I know from my time working with Sir Alex that was his biggest thing. The most used coaching term that he used was ‘well done’ and players thrived on that and that was the environment we created in training.

"You’re seeing the same again now with players like Marcus Rashford. Marcus will be benefiting massively from Ole’s experiences as a striker.”

Another United star who has been transformed of late is a World Cup winner whose relationship with Mourinho could diplomatically be described as difficult.

Meulensteen is adamant however that it is not just relief at his adversary’s departure that has brought such an upturn in Paul Pogba’s form.

“Ole has probably reassured Paul Pogba what a good player he is but secondly he has also placed on his shoulders the responsibilities he must live up to.

"Those responsibilities come down to just two things - work hard in every game and play the best football that you’re capable of for this club. When he does those things he’s a difference maker.”

The Dutchman reserves his greatest praise for Jesse Lingard, which perhaps is hardly surprising given that Meulensteen oversaw the Warrington-born winger’s development from an early age.

The proud coach even goes as far as to compare United’s number 14 to one of the finest football players of the twenty-first century.

“Sir Alex always had a clear picture of what a good player looked like and they had to have quick feet, quick brain, and a big heart. That is basically everything that Jesse has.”

“The fans need to associate themselves with players who have come through the ranks. While I was there and Sir Alex was there it was so important to keep bringing young players through.

"The difference with Jesse is that he was always the English version of Iniesta. He can play in pockets; he’s very mobile and very agile. He can beat a man and he’s good in combination play. The last few seasons he has started to score important goals as well.”

What then of United’s last big signing Alexis Sanchez? The Chilean has disappointed in his first year in Manchester following his highly publicised move from the capital.

Can the feel-good factor sweeping Old Trafford at present also see a revival in his fortunes?

“Alexis Sanchez is a runner with the ball. He likes to pick the ball up and basically drive forward past people. I would like to see Alexis Sanchez at his best for Manchester United because we all saw how good he was for Arsenal.

"You can’t tell me that that has suddenly disappeared. It’s all about making the players understand what is expected of them and unlocking how to get the best out of them. I’m sure that Ole will be able to do that.”

One player who has sadly not shone in the light of Solskjaer’s arrival – or more accurately, not been given the chance to – is Juan Mata.

Does Meulensteen believe the likeable schemer’s days in the north-west are numbered?

“Ole obviously had a good look at the squad and he wants to play with a lot of energy and a lot of pace. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of Mata and think he’s a great player but it just might be that Mata doesn’t fit in the picture that Ole sees.

"That is obvious otherwise he would have played more often and at some point you have to refresh your squad in certain areas.”

Speaking of which, does a summer overhaul beckon for Manchester United? And if so, where does the experienced coach believe that the Reds fall short?

After insisting that his former club are only one or two signings away from challenging once again for the title, Meulensteen casts his expert eye over a squad that has arguably under-whelmed in recent seasons.

“If you look at the firepower and the pace United have up front along with the variety of abilities they can scare any defence in the Premier League and across Europe.

"In midfield they are strong. You have Pogba to the fore and getting better. Matic is very strong with a lot of experience.

"You could maybe do with another creative player there, a passer that can unlock defences from deep.

“It’s in defence that you maybe need to look at. Valencia is getting on and Ashley Young is a bit older now but still doing a great job.

"Then there is a need for a really good centre-back who can lead from the back and stabilise everything.”

The permanent signing of an ever-smiling, popular Scandinavian might help too.

    Rene Meulensteen Quickfire Questions:

Score prediction for Leicester vs Manchester United?

There is going to be goals. United will edge it 3-1.

    First goal scorer?

    Marcus Rashford.

Who will win the Premier League title?

Is it alright if I don’t answer that one?!

Who will win the Premier League Golden Boot?

I think it will be Mo Salah.

Who will win the Champions League?

Juventus with Ronaldo will be there or thereabouts.

Premier League: Wednesday 30th January 2019 Betting Tips & Odds

Three of the top four are in Premier League action this Wednesday after FA Cup fixtures dominated the weekend schedule. Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are only four points apart in fourth and third respectively.

Liverpool’s lead could be just one point by the time they kick-off against Leicester City. Jurgen Klopp’s side are still title favourites. They are 7/10 on 888sport's Premier League winner odds.

Four matches take place on Wednesday evening. Here are a few thoughts and tips…

    AFC Bournemouth vs CHELSEA

Bournemouth got an important win at home to West Ham in their last match. Three points separates the Cherries from the top of the mid-table pack, they are down in 12th at the moment.

Bournemouth, having been knocked out the FA Cup, have little to play for in the remainder of the campaign.

Chelsea bounced back from a dreadful display against Arsenal in their last league match to beat Spurs on penalties in the League Cup and thrash Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup.

Eden Hazard was rested at the weekend and will take the pitch alongside new signing Gonzalo Higuain for the first time at Dean Court on Wednesday.

Chelsea could be level on points with Arsenal and Manchester United by the time they kick off on the south coast. Bournemouth have not been great of late, conceding nine goals in their last two matches against top six sides. The visitors are the team to back.

TIP: Chelsea to win @ 13/20

PREDICTED SCORE: Bournemouth 1-2 Chelsea at 7/1

    SOUTHAMPTON vs Crystal Palace

Southampton’s resurgence under Ralph Hasenhuttl has seen them pull level on points with Crystal Palace.

The pair are still only three points from the relegation zone. Southampton have won two of their last three, beating Leicester and Everton. Saints were a mess under Mark Hughes and should easily be safe.

Palace have had an eventful last two matches, losing a seven-goal thriller at Anfield and knocking Spurs out of the League Cup.

Roy Hodgson named a strong team to face Spurs, which could the Eagles struggle with fatigue in this one, while Southampton are rested.

The hosts are 27/20 to win, but the 4/11 to avoid defeat is the better bet.

TIP: Southampton to win OR draw @ 4/11

PREDICTED SCORE: Southampton 2-2 Crystal Palace at 23/2

    LIVERPOOL vs LEICESTER CITY

Liverpool were knocked out of the FA Cup in the Third Round, so Jurgen Klopp’s side had a nice break at the weekend.

The Reds survived a scare against Crystal Palace in their last league outing and could be under serious pressure from Manchester City if the reigning champions win at Newcastle on Tuesday.

Leicester have won one of four in the league, having lost 4-3 to Wolves last time out.

Claude Puel is not a popular man at the King Power right now, despite victories against Manchester City and Chelsea in late December.

Klopp’s side have not been at their best of late and are suffering an injury crisis. They are still likely to win at home, but Leicester could cause them problems.

TIP: Both teams to score @ 21/20

PREDICTED SCORE: Liverpool 3-1 Leicester (Priced at 9/1 with 888sport)

    TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Watford

It’s been a disastrous week for Mauricio Pochettino. Harry Kane and Dele Alli are unavailable until March, and Spurs were knocked out of both domestic cup competitions within four days.

Spurs fans will be delighted by Son Heung-Min’s early return after South Korea were knocked out of the Asian Cup.

Watford are unbeaten in six, though they have won just once in their last five league matches.

Javi Gracia rotated heavily for the FA Cup at the weekend, but still won the match. The Hornets beat Spurs earlier this season and will be very optimistic as they head to Wembley.

This is the best time to face Tottenham. The return of Son, who will likely start, could make all the difference, though.

TIP: Tottenham to win @ 8/13

PREDICTED SCORE: Tottenham 2-1 Watford at 13/2

Premier League: Tuesday 29th January 2019 Betting Tips & Odds

You can’t beat midweek football. With a full slate of Premier League fixtures taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday, football fans can get their top flight fix early following the FA Cup fourth round weekend.

With three of the Premier League’s top six in action on Tuesday night, there are a number of tasty markets to get stuck into. Without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the best Premier League Odds and tips ahead of January 29th.

    ARSENAL vs Cardiff City

Arsenal created the better chances against Manchester United on Friday night but the Gunners failed to take advantage – and you cannot afford to do that against the top teams.

On the whole, Unai Emery has done a solid job since arriving at the club. A convincing win here will silence a few of his critics; 19/20 for over 2.5 home goals is a solid price.

Meanwhile, Cardiff have gone through a rough patch. The Bluebirds have failed to score in their last four games in all competitions and the visitors will be under the cosh from start to finish here.

However, Neil Warnock’s side will be quietly confident of scoring at the Emirates on Tuesday night. 17/10 for a home win with both teams scoring might be the way to go.

TIP: Arsenal to win and both teams to score @ 17/10

PREDICTED SCORE: Arsenal 3-1 Cardiff (Priced at 9/1 with 888sport)

WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS vs WEST HAM UNITED

Wolves came from two goals down to salvage a draw at Shrewsbury Town on Saturday and the hosts will count themselves lucky after that very late equaliser.

Both teams to score has landed in Wolves’ previous two home games and 8/11 for another close encounter looks likely. These two teams aren’t renowned for defensive stability by any means.

West Ham suffered an embarrassing FA Cup defeat to AFC Wimbledon last weekend and Hammers fans will be expecting an instant response. Write the Hammers off at your peril…

Manuel Pellegrini’s men were on the wrong side of a 1-0 scoreline when the two teams met in September. Plenty of punters will fancy West Ham at 10/13 to avoid defeat on Tuesday night.

TIP: Both teams to score @ 8/11

PREDICTED SCORE: Wolves 2-1 West Ham (Priced at 15/2 with 888sport)

    MANCHESTER UNITED vs Burnley

Manchester United’s impressive resurgence under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer goes on. The Red Devils made it eight wins in a row with a 3-1 win at the Emirates on Friday night.

It is impossible to back against United right now - 8/11 for Solskjaer’s side to take a lead into half-time is worth considering. This has landed in each of United’s last four games in all competitions…

Burnley were unbeaten in five matches in all competitions prior to Saturday’s 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City. The Clarets will be looking to avoid another hiding on Tuesday evening.

For the visitors, keeping this one respectable is an absolute must. 888sport odds have the Clarets (+3 on the handicap) at 33/100 to give a decent account of themselves at Old Trafford.

TIP: Man United to win the first half @ 8/13

PREDICTED SCORE: Man United 2-0 Burnley (Priced at 6/1 with 888sport)

    Newcastle United vs MANCHESTER CITY

Rafa Benitez has been criticised for going defensive against the Premier League’s big boys in recent years – but it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see Newcastle sit back once again.

Magpies fans will expect Newcastle to show incentive in the final third and the EVS on offer for over 0.5 home goals deserves a second look. With the crowd behind them, it’s not the worst bet in the world.

You won’t find too many punters backing against Manchester City here. Pep Guardiola’s side have been simply sublime in 2019, scoring 28 goals in six games without conceding a goal.

Like United, I fancy City to come out firing and 8/11 for the visitors to take a lead into the break is a solid bet. This one could get ugly for Newcastle if City go for the jugular.

TIP: Man City to win the first half @ 8/11

PREDICTED SCORE: Newcastle 0-3 Man City (Priced at 6/1 with 888sport)

Swansea City vs Birmingham City: Betting Preview

Swansea City vs BIRMINGHAM CITY: Best Bets

    Swansea – 11/10

    Draw – 21/10

    Blues – 27/10

Birmingham have slipped into the bottom half of the Championship table after a run of five games without a win but three points for the Blues on Tuesday night might be enough for Garry Monk’s side to climb back into the top 12.

Swansea City have been in decent form as of late though, with the Welsh side winning four of their last five matches in all competitions. Winning at the Liberty Stadium will not be easy by any means but the Blues are well priced at 27/10 to claim three points.

The fixture list has not been kind to Monk’s men in recent weeks. Birmingham have gone up against two of the Championship’s top five since January 11th and punters will be quietly confident of a positive result for the visitors.

Both teams to score is very appealing at 4/5 in Championship betting odds. This has landed in Birmingham’s last three league games whilst also winning in four of Swansea’s previous five Championship encounters. Expect goals on Tuesday night…

As per usual, 888sport have a special wincast available for BCFC supporters. Lukas Jutkiewicz to score in a Birmingham win is now available at 7/1 on Tuesday night – the Blues striker has 10 goals to his name already this season and he could make the difference in this one.

Birmingham fans should take the 7/10 for the Blues to avoid defeat in this clash. Confidence has been knocked in recent weeks but Monk’s side have the quality to bounce back in south Wales. Watch this space, the Blues will be tough to stop if they make an early breakthrough.

    Prediction: Swansea 1-2 Birmingham (11/1)

Bet of the day: Both teams to score (4/5)

Outside punt: Birmingham to score in both halves (9/2)

Enhanced wincast: Lukas Jutkiewicz to score and Birmingham to win (7/1)

Cheltenham Festival: Trials Day Reaction And Ante Post Tips

The Joseph O’Brien trained Fakir D’Oudairies moved to the top of the JCB Triumph Hurdle betting at the Cheltenham Festival after putting his rivals to the sword in the opening race on Cheltenham Trials Day.

Fakir D’Oudairies powered up the hill to win by an impressive 13 lengths from his stable companion Fine Brunello, with the well fancied favourite Adjali a further three and a half back in third.

J.J Slevin, who rode the winner said: “Fakir D’Oudairies had a good win at Cork the last day and has obviously come on for it. He has loads of experience from his time in France and that was a good performance.

"It’s a Grade 2 and we didn’t hang around – we went a nice, even gallop – and my horse travelled very comfortably and jumped very well. He stuck at it very well – I didn’t realise I had won by so far, but he did it very well.”

“I would say that he would be better with a bit of juice in the ground, but it is a long way from being winter ground out there. He handled it fine and I am sure he will be fine on the ground in the spring.

Daryl Jacob, on board Adjali, said of his mount: “Adjali has run well. The Irish horses seem to be the best juveniles, but I think we might see a better Adjali at The Festival in March.”

Fakir D’Oudairies is now a 4/1 chance with us for a repeat victory in March, making him the clear favourite ahead of his stablemate Sir Erec at 6/1.

Kildisart, the winner of the Timeform Novices’ Handicap Chase, is now at the mercy of the handicapper when it comes down to which Festival engagement he will take up, according to his trainer Ben Pauling.

A rise of anything more than 4lbs would rule the seven-year-old out of his preferred option, the Close Brothers Novices’ Handicap Chase, so a switch to the JLT would be the backup plan.

Pauling said: "He is becoming quite a decent little horse. His jumping can still be improved as he gets in a little close to a couple of them, but he doesn't seem to lose an enormous amount of momentum. He won it very nicely and is a progressive horse.

"Hopefully he will still be within the parameters of the Close Brothers Chase, but we might have to look at the JLT if he is put up more than 4lb."

Siruh Du Lac battled back doggedly against Janika in pulsating finish to the Spectra Cyber Security Solutions Trophy Handicap Chase.

Having won five of his last six races, the Nick Williams-trained six-year-old was always in vanguard under a positive ride from Lizzie Kelly, just getting the better of Janika by the smallest of margins in a protracted battle to the line.

The winner is now a 10/1 shot for the Close Brothers Chase at the Festival, while we make Janika a 20/1 contender for the Ryanair Chase.

Frodon claimed a fourth win at Cheltenham when taking the Cotswold Chase under Bryony Frost and will probably now contest the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Frost said: "I say it all the time - he is a complete pleasure (to ride). I've never ridden a horse that has a heart like him and over the last two it is visible for everyone to see.

"You can see how brave and awesome he is. He is the most amazing person and when I call upon on him, he answers every time.”

Frodon’s trainer, Paul Nicholls, was quick to confirm the Gold Cup route for his star seven-year-old: "I don't think he has the pace to win a Ryanair.

"I think the Gold Cup is more suitable for him as he stays and I just said to the owner beforehand that he has had six or seven weeks off and he looked a gallop short and will improve for today.

"I always hate coming back after a break, but that was astonishing. He just idles a bit in front then stays on again.

"He was giving them weight as well and I still feel there is a bit of improvement in him.

"He loves the track and is improving rapidly. He is rated 169 and that would have put him second in last year's Gold Cup. In a year that is quite open, I'm definitely dead keen to go.

"The Gold Cup is a more realistic trip as he gets them off the bridle with his jumping."

The runner-up Elegant Escape is priced up at 20/1, while Terrefort, who finished a promising third is a 25/1 chance in horses betting odds with 888sport.

Nicky Henderson's Birchdale extended his unbeaten run by taking the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle Trial.

We now make the J.P McManus runner a 10/1 poke for the Ballymore final at the Festival, while the unfortunate last flight faller Brewin'upastorm is marginally behind him at 12/1 for the same race.

The Emma Lavelle-trained Paisley Park made it four from four this season when landing the Cleeve Hurdle and has now been installed as the 11/4 favourite for the Stayers’ Hurdle at the Festival.

Speaking after the race, Lavelle said: Lavelle said: "That was quite impressive. He just has such a great way of going in that he doesn't use any more energy than he needs to and then when Aidan winds him up, he just picks up.

"Aidan said he got there two furlongs two soon. The last hurdle today is the first hurdle he has jumped in front in his life as he gets a lead at home as well.

"He looked pretty special out there. I hope we have the same preparation for Cheltenham in March as we had for this race."
