Part of every Winter Olympics since 1964, luge inevitably attracts plenty of betting interest in the lead up to the Games. There are five different luge events at Milan Cortina in 2026 with singles and doubles joined by a team relay.
Germany leads the way with a whopping 39 medals in the luge. East Germany and West Germany combined for 39 medals before unification, too.
Austria, Germany, and Latvia sent 10 luge athletes to the 2022 Games. All three nations are expected to be in contention in the singles, doubles, and team events in 2026.
Natalie Geisenberger is the most successful overall athlete in luge at the Olympics with seven total medals to her name.
Interestingly, the reigning world champions – Max Langenhan and Julia Taubitz – are not the betting favourites for the singles events.
Men’s Luge Prediction
Germany have won the men’s single luge in three of the last four Games. Felix Loch, who has the second-shortest odds for the 2026 Olympics, is a two-time Olympic champion and a six-time world champion. That experience should stand him in good stead.
World champion in 2023, Jonas Mueller is the narrow favourite ahead of Loch in this market. His success in recent years makes him a hard competitor to look past in Milan.
Men's Luge Odds
- Jonas Mueller – 11/8
- Felix Loch – 7/4

Women’s Luge Prediction
It’s all been about Germany in this event. Germans have won gold in the last seven women’s single luge events, with six silver medals, and three bronze medals during that period.
Merle Fraebel and Taubitz are the clear favourites for the women’s singles as Germany looks to extend its run of golds. Lisa Schtule notably tops the World Cup standings and fellow Austrian Hannah Prock has enjoyed plenty of success, including a win in Winterberg earlier in the season.
Fraebel has won the last two events, with a pair of runners-up placings for Schulte. Germany’s strong track record in the luge is a significant factor for bettors to consider, but don’t write off the Austrians.
