Following a thrilling opening day performance, Noel Whelan has praised Leeds’ approach to squad construction.

Leeds United transfer news expects more moves from the Whites before the window slams shut, but Whelan has been impressed with how they’ve gone about recruitment so far.

Asked by Football Insider whether a lack of Premier League experience was a concern, Whelan replied, “Yes, but we knew that last season when we got promoted from the Championship, we weren’t going to go out there and buy a full squad of players that have Premier League experience.”

Continuing, Whelan looked to Sheffield United’s success last season as an example to follow.

“We’ve got to give the opportunity to the lads that have got us there, same as Sheffield United. There’s a lot of players there who didn’t have Premier League experience but look how well they’ve adapted.

“It’s about hard work when you get there. It’s about having the discipline, it’s about being organised, it’s about playing to your strengths while being hard to beat like Sheffield United have been.

The former striker was honest about how difficult it will be at times, but he clearly has faith in Leeds to compete.

Whelan said, “We need to take what we did last year into the Premier League but we know it’s going to be very, very difficult.

"We can’t be going in there scared, we’ve got to realise we’ve got very, very good players in our squad too and they’ve got to stand up and relish the opportunity in front of them.”

There’s no question Leeds’ performance at Anfield gives the Elland Road faithful hope of a great season.

Arsenal Rival Leeds For Ligue 1 Forward

Dijon forward Mounir Chouiar is valued at £19 million. Arsenal are thought to be showing an interested in the 21-year-old, who plays the majority of his minutes on the left flank.

Leeds and Wolves have both been linked with Chouiar in the recent past, and the £19 million fee reported by France Football seems very reasonable for a player with his potential.

Chouiar scored six goals in 26 appearances for Dijon last term, and would be an interesting addition to the Premier League.

Notably, L’Equipe reported the 21-year-old will be left out of Dijon’s squad for their match of Sunday due to a potential transfer. This is a story to watch in the coming days with three Premier League clubs vying for a talented youngster.

Premier League Competition For Chelsea Starlet

Conor Gallagher is on course to sign a new deal at Chelsea and leave the club on loan.

A lot of clubs are thought to be interested. Leeds, per the Daily Mail, want Gallagher on a permanent deal, something Chelsea are not necessarily keen on.

West Brom and Aston Villa are interested in acquiring Gallagher on loan for the 2020/21 season following the 20-year-old’s impressive spells at Charlton and Swansea last term.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is thought to be high on Gallagher, making the Blues reluctant to sell.

A permanent move for Gallagher seems like a long shot. Minutes will be hard to come by at Chelsea, though, and Leeds have already shown their pulling power in this window.
