After qualifying for the 2022 World Cup as hosts, Qatar are heading to the 2026 World Cup on merit and some will fancy them to spring a shock in sports betting odds after a solid qualifying campaign.

They won 10 out of 12 matches in the first two rounds of qualifying and ultimately booked their place at the tournament after topping their fourth-round group ahead of the United Arab Emirates and Oman.

Back-to-back Asian Cup titles have provided the Maroon One with plenty of experience heading into the biggest challenge of all and they'll rely on that when facing Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada and Switzerland this summer.

What is the average salary for Qatar players?

All but one of Qatar’s 26-man squad play in the Qatar Stars League.

For football betting punters who are unfamiliar with the division, the top players in the Qatari topflight can earn multiple millions per year, though many in the Qatar squad will be on less than £1 million.

The average salary across the squad is likely to be around £1 million per year, equating to approximately £20,000 per week.

Who are the top earning players for Qatar?

Akram Afif, Hassan Al-Haydos, and Almoez Ali are expected to be the highest-earning players in Qatar’s World Cup squads. Afif’s salary is thought to be more than £30,000 per week, with some sources suggesting it could be up to £60,000.

Unlike Europe’s top leagues, there is not much publicly reported information when it comes to the top salaries in the Qatar Stars League.

How much does the Qatar manager earn?

Julen Lopetegui is on £2 million per year as Qatar manager.

After losing nine out of 20 Premier League matches whilst in charge of West Ham, Lopetegui was hired as Qatar manager. The Spaniard was out of work for less than six months after being given the boot by the Hammers.
