Premier League Goal Of The Season Winners

A grand total of 1,246 goals were scored in the 2023/24 Premier League season but only one could clinch the coveted Goal of the Season accolade.

The award went to Alejandro Garnacho, with his sensational overhead kick in Manchester United’s 3-0 victory over Everton taking top spot. It was a moment that sent Premier League betting punters into shock!

https://www.888sport.com/blog/football-prediction

We’ve seen some absolute humdingers over the years, with a number of goals now well and truly cemented in the brains of Premier League fans around the world.

Without further ado, we’re going to look back at the full list of Premier League Goal of the Season winners – starting with Emre Can’s sublime strike in 2016/17.

Premier League Goal Of The Season Winners:

  • 2016/17 - Emre Can (LIVERPOOL vs Watford)

  • 2017/18 - Sofiane Boufal (SOUTHAMPTON vs West Bromwich Albion)

  • 2018/19 - Andros Townsend (CRYSTAL PALACE vs Manchester City)

  • 2019/20 - Son Heung-min (TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Burnley)

  • 2020/21 - Erik Lamela (TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Arsenal)

  • 2021/22 - Mohamed Salah (LIVERPOOL vs Manchester City)

  • 2022/23 - Julio Enciso (BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION vs Manchester City)

  • 2023/24 - Alejandro Garnacho (MANCHESTER UNITED vs Everton)

Who Will Win The Premier League Goal Of The Season In 2024/25?

Erling Haaland is the favourite to finish as the top goal scorer this season but that does not guarantee that the City forward will win the Goal of the Season award.

The Golden Boot is awarded to the player with the most goals in a single campaign while the Goal of the Season accolade is purely for one individual moment of genius.

Football betting odds are not usually focused on this particular award but it remains a major talking point amongst supporters, with fans keen to voice their own opinion on the best strike of the season.

The Oldest Head Coaches In NFL History

  • The oldest head coach in NFL history was Romeo Crennel, who was 73-years-old.

  • Now, the NFL’s oldest head coach is only in his mid-60s.

  • The recently-retired Pete Carroll and Bill Belichick also rank among the oldest head coaches in NFL history.

There’s been somewhat of a swing in recent years towards younger head coaches. The Sean McVay Effect, as it were, has teams dipping to coaches in that 30 to 40-year bracket rather than hardened veterans.

That said, a swingback may occur soon as the oldest head coach in the league, Andy Reid (66-years-old), now has a haul of championship rings and is the favourite in the NFL betting to raise the Lombardi Trophy again.

For now, though, these are the oldest head coaches in NFL history.

Romeo Crennel (73 years, 199 days)

For the most part, Romeo Crennel was a defensive co-ordinator, but through his prominence in the role, he often found himself called into the head coach seat when those above him moved on.

Bet Calculator

In total, Crennel was a head coach at some point in seven different seasons, but only five of those saw him in the role for the full campaign.

At the time of his last game in January 2021 with the Houston Texans, he was 73 years and 199 days, and he fully retired from the game in 2022.

George Halas (72 years, 318 days)

Famed head coach of the Chicago Bears, George Halas just kept on coaching until he couldn’t anymore.

Halas was one of the founders of the NFL, an owner of the Bears, and was later among the first to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

By the end of his head coaching career, Halas had amassed 324 wins in the league – which remains the second-most of all time – and a mighty eight championships.

Marv Levy (72 years, 139 days)

Marv Levy commenced his NFL head coaching run in 1978 with the Kansas City Chiefs, having already been a coach with many NFL teams in different roles.

He landed the role after joining the Montréal Alouettes in 1973 and steering them to two Grey Cup triumphs through to 1977.

After the Chiefs, Levy spent time with the Chicago Blitz in the USFL, and, in 1986, he joined the Buffalo Bills. Here, he held the head coaching position for 11 years before calling it a day at 72-years-old.

Pete Carroll (72 years, 117 days)

So close to moving to third among the oldest head coaches in NFL history, Pete Carroll was the oldest head coach in the league when he parted ways with the Seattle Seahawks.

While in Seattle, Carroll orchestrated a colossal swing in focus in the NFL, placing it on mighty defensive units with his lauded Super Bowl-winning ‘Legion of Boom.’

https://www.888sport.com/blog/football-prediction

With the Seahawks for 13 seasons, he also oversaw one of the worst trades in NFL history – but, luckily for Seattle fans, Carroll wasn’t on the receiving end of the lopsided deal.

Seattle were very much in a rebuild when Carroll hung up his headpiece in 2024, and entering the new season, they’re still out at 50/1 to win the Super Bowl in the outright betting.

Bill Belichick (71 years, 269 days)

Perhaps the greatest NFL head coach of all time, Bill Belichick certainly didn’t need to push on into his 70s to cement this legacy: he won his sixth and final Super Bowl to conclude the 2018 season.

When he finally called it a day in 2024, he did hold the title of the oldest active NFL head coach for a short while, with Pete Carroll vacating the top spot just before Belichick left the New England Patriots that January.

Seeing as Belichick’s last throw of the dice with Mac Jones didn’t bear fruit, and he’s quoted as saying that the new rule changes are “hard to get used to,” the end of last season looks to be the right time to pass the reins after 24 seasons with the Pats.

When the orchestrator of the Patriots dynasty that dominated the opening decades of the millennium was on the touchline for his last game, he was 71 years and 269 days old.

Jumps Horses To Follow - 2025/26 National Hunt Season

We're just a matter of weeks away from the start of the 2024/24 National Hunt season and there is always an aura of anticipation and excitement at this stage of the year.

Here, I've picked out 10 horses to follow in the jumps season and hopefully we'll see one or two go on to win one of the big races at the spring Festivals.

Without further ado, here are my ten horses to follow in 2024/25. You'll almost certainly be seeing a lot of these names in our horse racing tips throughout the campaign!

Jumps Horses To Follow (2025)

  • Bowmore (Henry De Bromhead)

  • Blueking D’Oroux (Paul Nicholls)

  • Excello (Nicky Henderson)

  • Givemefive (Harry Derham)

  • Gwennie May Boy (Dan Skelton)

  • In Excelsis Deo (Harry Fry)

  • Jingko Blue (Nicky Henderson)

  • Limier D'Arthel (Philip Hobbs & Johnson White)

  • Lincoln Du Seuil (Willie Mullins)

  • Making Headway (Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero)

Bowmore (Henry De Bromhead)

I can see the Henry De Bromhead-trained Bowmore climbing through the novice chase ranks after his debut success at Tipperary over the summer.

The Alan Halsall-owned six-year-old impressed throughout and forged clear on the run-in to beat useful performer Thecompanysergeant by four lengths.

Hampered next time out at Killarney, the big horse should be there or thereabouts over the winter.

Blueking D’Oroux (Paul Nicholls)

Trained by Paul Nicholls, Blueking D’Oroux arrived from France with a fairly tall reputation but took a while to adapt to his new surroundings.

The five-year-old settled in nicely in 2023/24, winning at Cheltenham and Ascot will probably continue to compete in Graded hurdles for the time being.

Excello (Nicky Henderson)

Nicky Henderson's exciting French import Excello upset odds-on favourite Solo when running out a ready winner of last season’s Howden Graduation Chase at Ascot, before the rest of his season tailed off somewhat.

The five-year-old will be back fitter and stronger this season and he looks sure to make his mark once again in the horse racing betting markets.

Givemefive (Harry Derham)

Narrowly defeated in the Adonis Hurdle by Kalif Du Berlais, Harry Derham firmly ruled out a trip to the Cheltenham Festival for his talented juvenile, but went to the later scheduled Fairyhouse meeting instead where he finished an honourable fourth in a Grade 2 Hurdle.

There will be more Graded action to come with him in the forthcoming months.

Gwennie May Boy (Dan Skelton)

Owned by the lovable octogenarian Gwendoline Clarke, Gwennie May Boy was last seen pulverising the field by seven and a half lengths in the 3m½f William Hill Hurdle at Aintree on Grand National Day.

Since moving from Jonjo O’Neil to Dan Skelton’s yard, Gwennie May Boy has raced three times and won all three of those starts. The six-year-old is certainly one to side with in the long distance handicap hurdles this season.

In Excelsis Deo (Harry Fry)

In Excelsis Deo landed a valuable Grade 2 Handicap Chase over 2m5f in the colours of JP McManus at Cheltenham’s April meeting.

He was unlucky on a couple of occasions last season and had finished strongly when fifth in the Plate at the Cheltenham Festival.

Trainer Harry Fry can send him on to bigger and better things in the upcoming season.

Jingko Blue (Nicky Henderson)

Nicky Henderson was on the mark with another smart novice in Jingko Blue last season and there should be more good things to come from him this year.

Pulled up in the Baring Bingham at the Cheltenham Festival, the five-year-old should be able to bounce back knowing the calibre of the stable.

Limier D'Arthel (Philip Hobbs & Johnson White)

A nine length winner of an AQPS race at Moulins back in April, this horse could well be another astute French purchase for owner JP McManus.

Bred to be a chaser in time, he possess the necessary flat speed to win over shorter and he should pick up a Juvenile hurdle or two this season if he’s plotted correctly.

Lincoln Du Seuil (Willie Mullins)

When Lincoln Du Seuil suddenly emerges as a young stable star for Willie Mullins you’ll be wondering exactly where he came from?

Winner of a 1m4f Conditions Stakes at Lignieres En Berry at the end of March, the three-year-old ran on well to the line to comfortably take the spoils in the heavy ground conditions.

Again, he’s another horse to watch out for in NH bumpers and juvenile hurdles and keep an eye out for his Cheltenham odds too.

Making Headway (Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero)

Making Headway was the winner of a competitive novice hurdle at Newbury last February. He had to make all of the running and did it in great fashion.

He was given a great front running ride by Henry Brooke that day and then went on to run a stormer in the Imperial Cup at Sandown where he finished fourth to Go Dante.

I suspect we’ll see the six-year-old running in more handicap hurdles in this campaign.
