Goalkeepers With The Most Clean Sheets In Premier League History

  • Ten goalkeeping greats have kept more Premier League clean sheets than anyone else

  • List reads like a who’s who of shot-stopping legends

  • Chelsea and Arsenal number one Petr Cech is the all-time shut-out master

11 - Peter Schmeichel (128)

Signed from Brondby in 1991 for the meagre sum of half a million pounds, the Great Dane swiftly set about reinventing modern goalkeeping, distributing from the back and enacting his trademark ‘star jumps’.

His innovative methods are widely used today by just about everyone.

Arriving at Old Trafford a year before the Premier League was formed, Schmeichel established himself as one of the first true legends of it, becoming a pivotal figure in Sir Alex Ferguson’s all-conquering Manchester United sides.

Incredibly, his son Kasper could one day usurp his old man from this list. The Leicester stopper is on 75 clean sheets going into the 2021/22 season

=8 - Brad Friedel (132)

Like Schmeichel, the imposing American began his shot-stopping at Brondby though he never played a professional game in Denmark.

From there, a highly unusual career path took him to Galatasaray before heading home for a short spell with Columbus Crew.

In 1997, Liverpool came calling and after a lengthy fight to secure a work permit the keeper dubbed ‘The Human Wall’ after his World Cup heroics in 2002 went on to make a staggering 450 appearances in the English top-flight, making a grand total of 771 saves for the Reds, Blackburn, Aston Villa and Tottenham.

=8 - Tim Howard (132)

Though it was Manchester United who lured Howard across the Atlantic, it is Everton who he will forever be synonymous with, providing assurance between the sticks on 329 occasions.

Bet Calculator

Naturally, one game in particular stands out from that multitude when in 2012 against Bolton at Goodison Park, a wind-assisted 101-yard clearance confounded his opposite number and flew into the goal.

The Premier League odds on that happening in the next Everton game are, to put it mildly, generous.

=8 - Edwin van der Sar (132)

The third and final Manchester United keeper on this list, the 6 ft 6 Dutchman would undoubtedly find himself much higher had he not spent half his career hoovering up silverware in the Eredivisie with Ajax.

Composure personified; Van der Sar brought some much-needed surety to the Red Devils after several seasons of settling for stop-gaps post-Schmeichel.

Masterful with his feet and blessed with a perfectly tuned positional sense, it’s no coincidence that United won five league titles and a Champions League during his tenure.

7 - Pepe Reina (136)

The Spaniard won three Golden Glove Awards at Liverpool between 2005 and 2008 as Rafa Benitez’s side repeatedly threatened to win the title and it is worth noting that Reina boasts the best ratio of clean sheets to games played in this whole list.

A stunning 45.79% of his 297 Premier League matches ended in shut-outs and were he still playing today the live betting market would surely be awash with wagers that his team wouldn’t concede. Quite simply he was Senor Reliable.

6 - Nigel Martyn (137)

Unquestionably one of the best shot-stoppers around, Martyn would have easily gained a hundred England caps had his career not run parallel with David Seaman’s.

Strangely, the first keeper to command a £1m fee remains somewhat under-rated to this day but ask any supporter of Crystal Palace, Leeds, or Everton on his attributes and they will rave about his consistency and match-turning displays. Not for nothing did David Moyes peg Martyn as his greatest ever signing.

The Cornishman was a superb practitioner of his craft and Palace could sorely do with his talents at present. The football betting market has the Eagles as fourth favourites for the drop.

5 - David Seaman (141)

‘Safe Hands’ is a bona fide Arsenal legend having spent 13 largely successful years in North London, winning three league titles, four FA Cups and a European Cup Winners Cup for good measure.

Only Peter Shilton won more England caps in nets and a series of excellent performances at major tournaments resulted in the Yorkshireman becoming a recognisable figure that transcended the sport.

A housewives’ favourite and not just because of the ponytail and ‘tache.

4 - David de Gea (147)

Followers of football betting know that David de Gea had a tumultuous Manchester United career. You don’t need to be an online betting expert to be aware that de Gea was one of the best goalkeepers in the world throughout his Old Trafford tenure, however.

https://www.888sport.com/blog/football-prediction

The Spaniard had his fair share of high-profile blunders, but he also won two Golden Gloves, and was named to the PFA Team of the Year on five occasions. Often behind shaky Manchester United defences, de Gea’s heroics frequently kept the Red Devils in games.

After so nearly moving to Real Madrid, de Gea extended his stay in the Premier League until 2023.

Rumours of a return to English football have appeared on occasion – he could climb this list further if he signs with another Premier League club or even returns to Manchester United to address their latest goalkeeping crisis.

3 - Mark Schwarzer (151)

On the one hand it could be reasoned that the towering Aussie is third due to his impressive longevity.

Only seven other stars have made more top-flight appearances than Schwarzer and in 2016 he became one of the oldest Premier League players by joining Leicester as back-up to Schmeichel Jr.

Yet if 514 games will inevitably result in lots of clean sheets consider who they were for. The vast majority of Schwarzer’s long career was spent playing for mid-table clubs or relegation fare, with defences typically vulnerable.

2 - David James (169)

Burdened with a reputation for making gaffes at Anfield, James shook off his ‘Calamity’ tag to script a respectable second chapter to his career that included stints at Aston Villa, West Ham and Portsmouth.

Memorably, at Manchester City he made a cameo up front but it was between the posts where James’ expertise lay; a keeper much better – and considerably more reliable – than he was ever given credit for.

An MBE was awarded to him in 2012 for his services to football and charity and no, he didn’t drop it.

1 - Petr Cech (202)

As part of Chelsea’s miserly back-line in 2005, Cech the Czech kept an astounding 24 clean sheets, still a Premier League record. That season too, he went 1,025 minutes without conceding.

Eleven years later, he topped his peers for the fourth time, keeping 16 shut-outs for an Arsenal side that was hardly known for their solidity.

Across a sizable chunk of the modern era, ‘Big Pete’ was the most well-rounded goalkeeper plying his trade in England. Recently, Gianluigi Buffon insisted he was the ‘best overall’ in their position. Buffon knows.

Our Premier League predictions for 2021/22 tips Chelsea as possible title challengers. They will have to be nothing less than brilliant to match their earlier incarnation in 2005 with Cech unbeatable at the back.

Most Premier League Golden Glove Awards:

Two keepers share the distinction of having won the Golden Glove Award on four separate occasions. Cech is one and perhaps that doesn’t surprise.

The other multiple winner is Joe Hart and given the way his career trajectory has taken a downward curve in recent years perhaps that does raise an eyebrow or two.

It shouldn’t. For several seasons, Hart played a key role in Manchester City’s rise to the summit of English football. Agile and commanding, his place in the pantheon of Premier League greats is secure.

Dele Alli Net Worth: Contract, Transfers & Career Highlights

Once one of the best players in Premier League betting, Dele Alli has endured a demise from the days of being a star at Tottenham and an England regular.

For a period, he looked set to play a decade-plus for the Three Lions and ascend to become a world star. His career has taken a very different path, however, with Alli falling out of favour at Spurs and failing to make an impact at Everton.

Born in 1996, there is time for Alli to turn his career around. As it stands, though, his career risks being a what-could-have-been after exploding onto the scene following his transfer to Tottenham from MK Dons.

After an underwhelming stint in Turkish Süper Lig betting with Besiktas, Alli has not appeared for Everton in the 2023-24 season.

    Net Worth

Dele Alli net worth is thought to be comfortably north of £10 million. Some sites go as far as the £20 million mark. Such is the timing of Alli’s career, his net worth is not as far behind someone like Dennis Bergkamp as you might expect.

Back in 2018, it was reported Alli made over £2 million in off-field income, including a boot deal with Adidas.

Alli became a part of CAA, who helped him to monetise his celebrity status. Alli had a partnership with BooHoo, and he has used his sizeable Instagram account to market products in the past.

In 2019, Alli agreed a deal with SecretLab, a company which manufactures gaming chairs. Alli’s love of gaming has long been public knowledge, and the organisation were pleased to be partnering with an elite sportsperson.

The company’s chief executive, Ian Alexander Ang, said, "The perception that gamers only consist of nerdy boys in the basement is no longer true.

"We want to be part of the movement to educate the public on this, and partnering with an elite sportsman like Dele is our way of doing so."

It will be interesting to see what Alli's wages are like over the next couple of years -- his career earnings could be a long way shy of what he might have expected a few seasons ago.

    Contract

Dele Alli is currently in the final season of a three-year contract with Everton. The deal is worth £100,000 per week. There are 101 players earning more than Alli per week in 2023-24 -- he is, however, on the same salary as Eberechi Eze, Ederson, and Andrew Robertson.

Upon signing Alli (and Donny van de Beek), Everton manager Frank Lampard cited the importance of having players with something to prove, which Alli certainly did after becoming no more than a backup at Tottenham.

Lampard said, "In terms of our business with Donny and Dele, they’re separate cases. I just look at the player and the person and I had conversations with them both.

"They’re both very, very talented players. I’ve come up against them in the past and was very impressed with them. Sometimes it’s good to get players in who have a point to prove."

This isn’t Alli’s first big contract. He signed a six-year extension with Tottenham back in 2018.

Both Spurs and Everton will have regretted those contract decisions, though. Which teams will take a chance on Alli as a free agent?

    Transfers

Dele Alli joined Everton from Tottenham in the 2022 January transfer window.

This move kept Alli involved in Premier League predictions when he could have gone elsewhere, presenting him with a chance to partner with former England midfielder Frank Lampard.

The Toffees spent a sizeable fee on Alli, which could have risen to £40 million. Lampard’s presence clearly played a major part in Alli opting to move to Goodison Park.

Alli said, "I'm very excited, a bit tired from the long day but we got there in the end. I'm delighted.

"I've had a few good conversations with him [Lampard] already, he's a player I admired through his whole career watching him. I'm pleased to work with him, it's very exciting, I'm sure we can do great things together.

"I just want to be happy playing football. Working with Lampard, and the great players Everton have got, is a great opportunity for me to do that. I'm excited to go there, show the fans what I can do, and help the club as much as I can."

Unfortunately, it joins a long list of failed Everton transfers. Alli departed Merseyside on loan in the summer of 2022, joining Turkish club Besiktas.

The move could become permanent depending on Alli’s performance level, but Besiktas will pay just a small portion of his contract.

Besiktas fans gave Alli a very warm welcome, and he got off to a strong start with a goal against Ankaragucu to end his 13-month drought.

Former Tottenham and England teammate Eric Dier believed Alli was pleased to be able to turn over a new leaf in Turkey.

"I spoke to him after his first game. I think he is happy to have a new challenge, somewhere fresh. I think he is excited by a new experience from a life point of view as well and all I heard were positive things from him.

"He is young. 26. I think we all know in football things can change very quickly for anyone at any time so everything is possible. It is just up to us as individuals."

The move to Besiktas did not resurrect Alli's career as he hoped. In 2023, he opened up on The Overlap podcast about childhood trauma, addiction issues, and mental health struggles. He entered rehab after leaving Besiktas.

    Como

Dele Alli didn't take the field in 2023/24. After several months without a club after the expiry of his Everton contract, the former England international agreed an 18-month pact with Serie A side Como in January 2025.

Como manager Cesc Fabregas tried to manage expectations, even suggesting Alli might not play until the 2025/26 campaign.

Alli was an unused substitute on March 2 for Como's match against Roma.

Redknapp is a regular on Sky Sports’ live football coverage, and even if you’re not tuning in for a match, he often pops up on other shows.

We’ve already covered Harry Redknapp net worth, so let’s take a look at Jamie’s net worth and life so far.

    Jamie Redknapp Net Worth

Jamie Redknapp net worth is estimated to be around £12 million. Some sites claim Redknapp is closer to the £5 million mark, however.

The former England international obviously earned plenty in his playing career. Still, Premier League wages were in a different ballpark altogether compared to the hundreds of thousands per week so many earn now.

Of course, Redknapp has had plenty of income since hanging up his boots too as both a pundit on Sky Sports and a panellist on A League Of Their Own.

    Bet Calculator

Like so many sportspeople, Redknapp also released one of the best sports autobiographies, which will have helped to boost his net worth further.

    Is Jamie Redknapp Married?

Jamie Redknapp’s wife is Frida Andersson. The couple tied the knot in London in October 2021, and welcomed their first child a month later.

Redknapp has two children from his first marriage to Louise Nurding. Both of the boys have taken a keen interest in rugby in their early years and have frequently appeared on both Jamie’s and Louise’s Instagram feeds.

Jamie spoke about co-parenting on a podcast following his divorce from Louise. The former midfielder said, "It’s never easy but you have to make sure the kids come first and foremost and you make sure that you’re there to support them as much as possible."

He also was quoted in Hello! Magazine talking about parenting after the break up.

"I'm very fortunate I've got two great boys. When you co-parent, it's something you have to do together and make sure you're both pulling the right way. Louise does a great job with the boys. We do the best we can and try to be tough but fair."

    Who Is Jamie Redknapp's Dad?

Jamie Redknapp is the son of former Tottenham and West Ham manager Harry Redknapp.

Jamie is also the cousin of Chelsea icon Frank Lampard, and has often been in the awkward position of analysing Lampard’s performances as both a player and manager from the Sky Sports studio.

Jamie and Harry launched a television show together in 2021, entitled ‘Redknapp’s Big Night Out’.

It’s not the first time they’ve appeared on screen together, of course, with Harry joining Jamie for an episode of A League Of Their Own back in 2016, and they featured on Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway after Harry’s I’m A Celebrity win.

Harry spoke to OK! about working on a project with Jamie.

He said, “When Jamie said he wanted me to do it, I was up for it. It’s better to work with people you know, especially your son, so I’m really looking forward to it…

“We have a great relationship. I could count on one hand the times that I’ve had a cross word with Jamie. We’ve always got on well.

"I talk to him almost every day and we play golf together when we can. And I’ve been very lucky to follow his career.”

Harry also recounted their cameo on Saturday Night Takeaway, having clearly enjoyed the experience.

“It’s right up my street as I do love playing tricks on people, so I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed that. That’s my type of humour. So I’d love to do a show where you wind people up and prank them. I’m ready for something like that.”

    Jamie Redknapp Playing Career

Initially with Tottenham as a youth player, Jamie Redknapp made a bold decision to turn down a contract offer from the north London club. He instead opted to sign with Bournemouth, who were managed by his Dad.

Having caught the eye of Kenny Dalglish, however, Redknapp didn’t last long with the Cherries.

He quickly became one of the expensive teenagers in the world, signing for Liverpool in 1991. Redknapp spent the vast majority of his career at Anfield, clocking over 300 appearances for the club over more than a decade.

A technically gifted midfielder, Redknapp was an integral player for Liverpool for a prolonged period, but a knee injury meant he missed all of their treble winning campaign.

His comeback was short-lived unfortunately as injury struck again. Redknapp then made a return to Tottenham on a free transfer, but made just 49 appearances over three seasons.

Half a season with Southampton was blighted by fitness concerns, and Redknapp announced his retirement at the age of 31 on the advice of medical specialists.

    • Bournemouth (1990-91) – 21 appearances, zero goals

    • Liverpool (1991-2002) – 308 appearances, 41 goals

    • Tottenham (2002-05) – 49 appearances, four goals

    • Southampton (2005) – 17 appearances, one goal

    • England (1995-99) – 17 caps, one goal

    Sky Sports Pundit

Beginning his punditry career in 2004 as part of BBC’s European Championships coverage, Jamie Redknapp took up a full-time role with Sky soon after his retirement in 2005.

Since then, Redknapp’s pre-match, half-time and post-match analysis has been a staple for those live betting on the Premier League.

Alongside his on-screen work both as a pundit and occasionally on Sky Sports News, Redknapp has also worked as a columnist on the Sky Sports website and with the Daily Mail.

Ronnie O’Sullivan Net Worth - How Much Is The Snooker Legend Worth?

Pretty much universally accepted as the best snooker player ever, Ronnie O’Sullivan is bigger than the sport. O’Sullivan is known by people who have never watched a frame of snooker in their lives.

As records tumble and titles are won, O’Sullivan’s status as one of the greatest British sportspeople of all-time is consolidated.

With such standing comes attention, attention The Rocket doesn’t always crave. For those looking to learn more about O’Sullivan, we’ve answered some common questions.

    Ronnie O'Sullivan Net Worth

Years of snooker prize money and endorsements have seen Ronnie O’Sullivan build a net worth believed to be around £20 million.

    Ronnie O’Sullivan Centuries:

Ronnie O’Sullivan has compiled 1,264 century breaks, by far the most of anyone in the history of the sport. Stephen Hendry’s record of 775 centuries was toppled in 2015 – John Higgins, Judd Trump, and Neil Robertson are the only players to pass the 900 mark.

O’Sullivan’s break building is often regarded as his greatest skill. He plays with pace, making rapid calculations as he goes, and his potting ability is second to none.

    https://www.888sport.com/blog/football-prediction

A snooker betting favourite until the day he gives it up, O’Sullivan will continue to rack up the centuries. When he’s on top of his game, he will turn the slightest mistake from his opponent into a triple-figure break.

    Ronnie O’Sullivan 147 Breaks:

Unsurprisingly, O’Sullivan also holds the record for most 147 breaks with 15. Higgins trails him on 13.

Six of O’Sullivan’s 15 competitive 147s have come in the final frame of a match, which is, once again, a record. Only six players in the history of snooker have as many 147s in total as O’Sullivan has in final frames.

The Rocket also holds a long-standing record for the fastest 147 in history, completing the break in just over five minutes against Mark Price in 1997.

On multiple occasions, he has turned down 147 opportunities in protest at what he considers to be insufficient prize money. His last maximum came against Allan Taylor at the English Open in 2018 – how many more will he get?

    Ronnie O’Sullivan Twitter:

An active Twitter user, Ronnie O’Sullivan is nearing 600,000 followers on the platform. He tweets from the handle @Ronnieo147.

His recent Twitter activity has primarily been sharing Eurosport content, mainly directing people to coverage of his matches. He will often thank crowds on the platform, too.

    Ronnie O’Sullivan Wife:

Ronnie O’Sullivan isn’t married. He is engaged to actress Laila Rouass and has been since 2013. Their relationship ended in 2022, but they reportedly got back together at a later date.

He’s got three children, the eldest of which was born in 1996. Taylor-Ann Magnus, from O’Sullivan’s relationship with Sally Magnus, has a child of her own.

O’Sullivan’s two other children were born in 2006 and 2007 from his relationship with Jo Langley.

His family life has been a topic the tabloids have frequently delved into. O’Sullivan has reportedly had a difficult relationship with Taylor-Ann, who claimed in 2018 that he had never met his granddaughter.

    Ronnie O’Sullivan Dad:

Ronnie O’Sullivan senior was sentenced to life in prison for murder in 1992. O’Sullivan’s father murdered the driver of Charlie Kray, brother of notorious gangsters Ronnie and Reggie. The incident happened in a London nightclub fight.

O’Sullivan senior was released in 2010 after serving 18 years. He has always served as an inspiration and been described as a ‘driving force’ by his snooker star son.

Their relationship was clearly very important in the development of the greatest player the sport has ever seen.

His dad watching him in prison was a motivating factor even on the most difficult days, “My dad used to say it was like a visit to him when he saw me on the TV. I thought, ‘Bloody hell, that’s got to be the most important thing, it’s keeping him going. So I knew I couldn’t give up, even though I was hating it. I couldn’t deprive my dad of that.”

    Ronnie O’Sullivan - FAQs

    How old is Ronnie O’Sullivan?

Ronnie O’Sullivan is 48 years old. He was born on 5th December 1975 in Wordsley. He has been a professional snooker player since 1992.

How many World Championships has Ronnie O’Sullivan won?

Seven. O’Sullivan won his first World Championship in 2001, added two more in 2004 and 2008 and went back-to-back in 2012 and 2013.

He ended a drought by joining the World Snooker Champions list for the sixth time in 2020, tying him with Ray Reardon and Steve Davis. His most recent title was won in 2022, making him the joint-most successful player in World Championship history.

David Moyes Net Worth – How Much Does The Everton Manager Earn?

In January 2025, David Moyes was appointed Everton manager for the second time and the Scot signed a two-and-a-half year deal at Goodison Park. The Toffees are 16th in the Premier League table and a relegation fight beckons.

Moyes is relishing the challenge and the opportunity to try and help Everton climb the table, speaking with excitement at the prospect of leading the Toffees out of trouble.

"I enjoyed 11 wonderful and successful years at Everton and didn't hesitate when I was offered the opportunity to rejoin this great club," said Moyes.

"Now we need Goodison and all Evertonians to play their part in getting behind the players in this important season so we can move into our fabulous new stadium as a Premier League team."

After seven years in the West Ham dug-out, traversing two different spells, David Moyes is seeking a fresh challenge this summer after the club took the decision not to renew his contract.

A string of poor results has led to his imminent departure though the manager can justifiably be proud of landing another top ten finish for the Hammers.

Indeed, it would take a harsh critic to claim that Moyes’ tenure in East London has not been a success overall, with relegation staved off against the Premier League odds in 2019, and a European honour secured in 2023, from winning the Europa Conference League. That was West Ham’s first major trophy in 43 years.

“The club is in a stronger position than when I returned in 2019,” he said recently and it’s hard to argue against that.

Preston and Everton too were in much better shape when he left them than on arrival, the latter a decade-long love affair that first established him as a top-flight coach of genuine substance.

From Goodison came a high-profile move to Manchester United on Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement and regrettably it was at this juncture when his reputation took a nose-dive.

His ill-fated spell at Old Trafford lasted only ten months though compensation came in the form of a £5m pay-off. There followed subsequent stints with Real Sociedad and Sunderland, both as troublesome as the other.

So, a chequered managerial career all told, but still there will be no shortage of takers for Moyes in the coming months, his status as a top-class coach capable of turning a club’s fortunes around long secured.

Speaking of fortunes, it’s a journey that has also made David Moyes an extremely wealthy man.

How Much Is David Moyes Worth?

Moyes’ earnings from his playing career will have been dwarfed by his managerial income.

Footballers’ wages were much smaller in the 1980s and 1990s compared to the 2020s and he spent the majority of his career at unglamourous clubs including Dunfermline Athletic and Shrewsbury Town.

At Preston too, his first managerial gig, it is hard to imagine his pay-check raising the eyebrows of anyone who saw it. This is of course all relative, and even at this early mark Moyes will have been earning a decent wage compared to many outside of the game.

At Everton though he made the jump to the big league, not only in the standard of football being played but in the club’s wage structure.

In transforming the Toffees from habitual relegation candidates to regularly featuring among the favourites in the football betting to finish top six, he will have been handsomely rewarded.

Reportedly, in his final season before switching his allegiance to the Red Devils, Moyes was the highest earning individual at the club, his salary approaching £4m per year.

It was at Manchester United however where his wealth increased many times over, first courtesy of a bumper inducement package, then a salary that far exceeded what Everton could offer.

Including his pay-off it has been estimated that Moyes earned north of £7m for ten months of under-achievement at Old Trafford. Nice work if you can get it.

In more recent years, his income has reverted back to Everton levels though his £4m a year at West Ham did come attached with £1m in bonuses should certain criteria be met.

As noted above, in most seasons they were.

David Moyes may not be one of the highest paid football managers around when we consider the game’s behemoths, such as Pep Guardiola and Diego Simeone.

But all the same, after spending the best part of two decades managing Premier League clubs, he has a substantial net worth in the region of £18m.

    Is David Moyes Married?

Yes. David Moyes is married to Pamela. It has been reported that the couple met during Moyes’ time as a player with Celtic in the 1980s.

Pamela and David have a daughter and a son together. While managerial jobs have forced David to move around, the couple have lived in Preston for a long time.

    Who Is David Moyes’ Daughter?

David Moyes’ daughter is called Lauren. She was born in 1996.

Lauren Moyes was the subject of rumours linking her with former Manchester United player Wilfried Zaha a few years’ ago, that was until the winger issued a firm denial on his Twitter account, calling the gossip ‘silly’.

The Galatasaray star also said, “I’ve never met or even dated David Moyes’ daughter, so it isn’t the cause for my absence from games.”

Lauren largely steers clear of social media, last posting on Twitter eight years ago.

    David Moyes House

In 2006, Moyes bought Haighton House in Grimsargh, close to Preston for £3.8 million. Set in 76 acres of land, the mansion includes tennis courts and a sunken swimming pool.

In 2019 the property was sold for £4.3m to a wealthy Bhailok family.

For much of his spell at West Ham, he resided in a rented East London flat, travelling back to his family’s new residence in Lytham St Annes as often as possible.

With his time in the capital soon to end he will no doubt be looking forward to enjoying some sea air, surrounded by family and living nearby to fellow Scots Alan Hansen and Sir Kenny Dalglish.

    David Moyes Teams Managed

David Moyes has managed Preston, Everton, Manchester United, Real Sociedad, Sunderland and West Ham.

His first Everton stint was the longest, amounting to 500-plus matches in charge of the club as they climbed the league, in 2005 securing a precious top four spot.

As stated, his brief time at Old Trafford proved to be disastrous, though with a 52% win percentage perhaps hindsight should be kinder towards it.

A move abroad to Real Sociedad was equally disappointing. Very few European football tips had the White-and-Blues down to challenge Barcelona or Real Madrid during his time in Spain but a succession of defeats soon tested the short patience of the owners.

An equally problematic 40 matches in charge of Sunderland led to Moyes becoming associated with failure, that was until a brief spell at West Ham saw him revive his reputation.

Arriving in fire-fighter mode he pulled the Hammers away from the bottom three with games to spare.

Annoyed at not being offered a permanent contract all was forgiven 18 months later when the club sought out his services once again and after being afforded time to forge his own team Moyes will leave this summer with largely fond memories.

In November 2021, he celebrated 1000 games as a professional manager, becoming only the 35th gaffer to reach this impressive landmark.

Here’s a quick overview of Moyes’ managerial career to date.

    • Preston - January 1998 to March 2002

    • Everton – March 2002 to June 2013

    • Manchester United – July 2013 to April 2014

    • Sunderland – July 2016 to May 2017

    • West Ham – November 2017 to May 2018

    • West Ham – December 2019 to May 2024

    • Everton -- January 2025 to Present

Royal Ascot: Top Trainers And Jockeys

Without a shadow of a doubt, Royal Ascot is the biggest Flat race meeting in the world.

Year upon year it attracts the best horses in training and it is a spectacle to behold. It comes second only to Grand National betting in terms of horse racing turnover.

    Bet Calculator

Of course there is no Royal Ascot without the top trainers and top jockeys competing at the Berkshire track so it is well worth studying who does well on an annual basis at this globally recognised horse racing event.

    Best Royal Ascot Trainers

    Aidan O’Brien (91 Wins)

The trainer who currently holds the record for the most ever wins in the illustrious and long history of Royal Ascot is Aidan O’Brien.

The Irish trainer boasts a grand total of 91 winners at the Royal meeting with his first coming in 1997 with Harbour Master.

O’Brien broke the record previously set by Sir Michael Stoute in 2023 when landing the St James’s Palace Stakes with Ryan Moore steering Paddington to victory.

There is nothing surer than the fact that Aidan O’Brien will add to his tally of 91 wins at Royal Ascot, whether it is at the 2025 meeting or any subsequent renewals after that.

It is highly probable he will reach the 100 winners milestone before he calls time on his training career.

    Sir Michael Stoute (82 Wins)

Throughout his illustrious career, Sir Michael Stoute clocked up a total of 82 wins at Royal Ascot. He is only bettered by one trainer and that is Aidan O’Brien.

Stoute broke Sir Henry Cecil’s record for wins at Royal Ascot in 2018 when he got his 76th win with Poet's Word in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes.

    https://www.888sport.com/blog/football-prediction

He now sits on a figure of 82, with his last Royal Ascot winner being in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes in 2021 with Dream of Dreams.

    Sir Henry Cecil (75 Wins)

Sir Henry Cecil accumulated no less than a total of 75 wins in all across his career at Royal Ascot.

Cecil sadly passed away in 2013 but left behind an almost peerless legacy in the horse racing world, including at Royal Ascot.

    Best Royal Ascot Jockeys

    Lester Piggott (116 Wins)

The late Lester Piggott is the most successful jockey at Royal Ascot, racking up a total of 116 winners, a record which included 11 Gold Cup triumphs.

    Ryan Moore (85 Wins)

Ryan Moore moved past Frankie Dettori to become the second most successful jockey in Royal Ascot history but his tally of 85 winners remains some way shy of Piggott's record.

As long as he remains the retained rider for Aidan O'Brien at Ballydoyle, Moore will continue to earn an impressive book of rides and the 90 winners mark will be his target for 2025.

    Frankie Dettori (81 Wins)

Frankie Dettori's career total of 81 Royal Ascot winners puts him in second place, with the Italian rider seemingly finishing his Royal Ascot career in 2023.

It is highly plausible that he may return in 2025 to ride some American entries being as he has extended his career in the USA. Expect Frankie to feature in Royal Ascot tips if he does come over for the meeting.

PGA Championship Preview: Analysing Top Contenders and Past Winners

The PGA Championship will be held at Valhalla this year. It's scheduled for May 16-19th, and there is already a lot of talk about the second major of the year and who will grab it.

Although Scottie Scheffler is the golfer with the best betting odds to win, we know there is quite a bit more to look at with the course, conditions, and past performances to really determine who the top contenders are.

    Bet Calculator

Let's take a look at some past PGA winners and some course details and get you equipped with the knowledge you need for the 2024 PGA Championship. For a deeper look at the competition, take a look at our betting guide for the PGA Championship 2024.

    Valhalla Golf Course

If you are wondering why Valhalla may sound familiar, it was the site of the 2008 Ryder Cup Championship. In addition, it held the PGA Championship in 1996, 2000, and 2014.

Valhalla is a Jack Nicklaus design known for its challenging layout. The course stretches across 500 acres in Louisville, Kentucky. The course takes advantage of the natural landscape as there are streams that meander through the course and can get golfers into trouble.

Every bunker at Valhalla is strategically placed, making shot selection a bit difficult for some holes. The second hole is a long par 4 with water hazards and bunkers. It's followed by a par three with a water hazard to the right side of the green.

By the time players get to hole 7, they face a real risk-reward situation with a par 5 that has a split fairway and a chance to approach the green over water. Undoubtedly, the grounds crew will have the course firm, which will make it tricky to keep those approach shots on the green.

When Tiger beat Bob May in a playoff in 2000, he was 18 under par for the tournament.

    Past PGA Championship Winners

The PGA Championship is not held at the same course every year. Last year, the championship was at Oak Hill Country Club, and it was won by Brooks Koepka. Brooks also had one in 2019.

In 2020, Collin Morikawa won at TPC Harding Park, Phill Mickelson won in 2021 at Kiawah, and in 2022, Justin Thomas won at Southern Hills Country Club.

These golfers will certainly be a few to keep an eye on at the PGA Championship.

    PGA Championship Format and Playoff

The PGA Championship is a four-round tournament with a cut after the first two rounds. The top 70 golfers will make it into the weekend.

    https://www.888sport.com/blog/football-prediction

For the first two rounds, some unfamiliar names will be in the field. Some PGA Professionals will have qualified through the PGA Professional National Championship.

If there is a tie after 72 holes, there will be a three-hole aggregate playoff. Golfers will head back out and play 16, 17, and 18 to determine the final winner.

Golfers To Keep An Eye On At The 2024 PGA Championship

Now that you have a general idea as to the format and details of the 2024 PGA Championship let's take a deeper look at some of the top contenders. There is no doubt Scottie Scheffler has shown consistent performance in the last few years.

With a win at the Masters he's really becoming one of the best golfers the game has seen. Some say he may be distracted with his wife about to have a baby, but he will without a doubt be a contender.

Rory McIlroy, Ludvig Aberg, and Jon Rahm are also top choices for the PGA Championship.

However, you can't rule out Brooks Koepka. When you win ⅖ PGA Championships, you deserve some respect when it comes to odds and placement in a tournament like this. It's a major championship, so looking at golfers who have played well in 2024 may not be enough.

It's smart to also consider who knows how to close. Who can hold it together when coming down the stretch and make a birdie when the pressure is on?

Final Thoughts On The 2024 PGA Championship

Now the time to get your best in for the 2024 PGA Championship. It's going to be an exciting event and it will shape the way the rest of the season plays out.

Major golf betting events are the most exciting of the year and the best way to feel as though you are a part of the event. Stay up to date with the latest odds and information about the PGA Championship by visiting 888Sport.

Euro 2024 Outright Predictions & Betting Tips

Euro 2024 is nearly upon us, a fiesta of football guaranteed to produce drama, memorable games and no doubt an upset or two. The match schedule is set and we're ready to go.

Hosted on this occasion by Germany this is a tournament that very rarely disappoints, and with 51 matches awaiting us, featuring 24 of the continent’s elite, naturally our thoughts turn to the betting markets.

    Bet Calculator

More pertinently, with a ball not yet kicked, we turn to the outrights. Who will win the ultimate prize? Which striker will out-score his peers and claim the Golden Boot? Is there value to be found in backing a ‘dark horse’ to win their group?

Naturally, this guide does not have any definitive answers but it will hopefully steer you in the right direction. Bet wisely, and if you can’t bet wisely, be lucky.

    Euro 2024 Outright Winner Odds

In determining which nations have the strongest chance of being the Euro 2024 winner come July 14th a number of factors must be considered.

Do they have tournament-winning pedigree? Are they going into this summer in decent form? Do they possess individuals who can change the course of a game with a moment of magic?

In Germany’s case, we must also examine how much of an advantage they have in being hosts.

They certainly have the pedigree, previously winning the Euros on three occasions and reaching the final six times. Their record in World Cups is equally as imperious.

As for their form, well here it gets a little complicated.

By hosting the event it was not necessary for Die Mannshaft to qualify, meaning they have filled their international breaks in recent months with friendlies. These do not give us a clear reading of their current credentials, as formations and personnel have been experimented with.

What we do know is that since Julian Nagelsmann has come in, following a string of poor results, the Germans have looked more their usual fearsome selves.

So what about their hosting? Three previous winners have held aloft the trophy on home soil but interestingly this hasn’t happened since 1984, when France conquered in Paris.

All told, Germany are rightfully priced up as third favourites in the Euro 2024 odds, being dangerous but with risk attached. What they do have is those individuals mentioned earlier. Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz are superstars in the making.

Ahead of them in the betting is France, winners in 2000 and losing finalists in 2016.

Ironically for a country that has previous for imploding during competitions due to in-house bickering Les Bleus’ big selling point is their stability, with Didier Deschamps at the helm since 2012.

The former Juventus ‘water-carrier’ has guided his team to consecutive World Cup finals.

France’s squad is packed with top-shelf talent and arguably they have the best defence of the summer. They also happen to have Kylian Mbappe, more on him very shortly.

Even this formidable collection of players however are not favourites in the outrights. That honour falls on Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions.

Counting against England is their manager’s conservative nature, erring on the side of caution when it matters most.

In their favour though – and considerably so – is their possession of three of the most gifted young players in world football, they being Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka.

Notably, all three have enjoyed tremendous seasons with their respective clubs.

England are 3/1 to go one better than last time out and it’s worth acknowledging that their group is fairly routine. Should they top it, they are also blessed with a straightforward pathway to the final four.

Dark Horses In 2024 Euro Betting Odds

First off, don’t back a ‘dark horse’. They never win. Very possibly, they never will.

It could be argued that Portugal fell into this category when they triumphed in 2016 but a more persuasive take is they were led from the front by Cristiano Ronaldo with some superb players in supporting roles.

They were too good to be considered a tricky outsider.

Czechoslovakia, Denmark and Greece meanwhile – all prior winners of the Euros against expectation – were long-priced shocks. Should their name have been drawn in a sweepstake in 1976, 1992 or 2004 it would have prompted only a groan of despair.

    https://www.888sport.com/blog/football-prediction

If you choose to ignore the advice above, however, at least plump for a team who tick many of the boxes necessary to go all the way. And that leads us to Belgium, priced up at a generous 14/1.

The Red Devils are unbeaten since exiting Qatar 2022. In Kevin De Bruyne they have one of the world’s best play-makers. In Romelu Lukaku they have a forward equally as capable of firing a tournament blank or ending up with the Golden Boot.

A recent draw at Wembley – that had them boss proceedings throughout – reveals they are a better side then their odds suggest.

Elsewhere, the Netherlands entices at 16/1 while perennial dark horses Croatia and Denmark are a distant 40/1.

    Euro 2024 Group Winner Odds

There is plenty of value to be found in the group winner outrights, especially when it concerns groups B and D. Each have a legitimate claim to be considered Euro 2024’s ‘Group of Death’.

In Group B, Spain are unsurprisingly the short-priced favourites to finish top, but with Italy and Croatia also in the mix there are enough unpredictable outcomes to warrant your money going elsewhere.

The Azzurri are 5/2 to top this exceedingly tough grouping and that appeals given their inherent mastery of navigating a tournament field and finding a way. Let’s not forget they beat La Roja on pens at Euro 2020 at the semi-final stage.

In group D, the Netherlands are the same price to finish ahead of France, Austria and Poland, a feat they’re more than capable of, particularly with France being traditional slow starters.

Mention of Austria brings us to another category in the outrights, that of backing teams to qualfy from their group.

Understandably, here the odds tighten as the likelihood increases of a side finishing in the top two but one big win might be enough, coupled with a hard-fought draw.

And Austria – coached by ex-Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick and captained by the brilliant David Alaba – have more than enough about them to do precisely this.

Das Team lost only once in their qualifying campaign.

Euro 2024 Top Scorer Outright Odds

Since 1996, when the tournament expanded to more than a handful of nations, the average number of goals needed to secure a Golden Boot has been 4.7. In 2012 Fernando Torres, Mario Gomez and Alan Dzagoev shared the honour with just three apiece.

Both Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane are capable of reaching that number in a single productive game, which is why this pair of prolific hit-men are priced at 5/1 and 11/2 respectively.

Neither are bad bets. Both make sense.

But the beauty of the goal-scorer outright market is there is value to be found in abundance, simply by picking a team you fancy to go far, who happen to be long-priced, then backing that team’s principle goal-snatcher.

Romelu Lukaku is the perfect example of this, spear-heading a team not overly anticipated to go the distance but with the credentials to do so.

The Roma forward is 20/1 to be the sharpest shooter of the summer.

Euro 2024 To Reach The Final Odds

The last four Euros have all had finals featured well-backed sides but go back a little further and a terrific Nedved-inspired Czech Republic outfit reached the final in 1996. The Soviet Union did likewise in 1988.

Dangerous outsiders may typically fall at the final hurdle but they have form for going deep.

So, in addition to backing a strong candidate to win the tournament in your Euro 2024 predictions, why not have some fun with a lesser-fancied team to join them?

Belgium are 6/1 to top a distinctly ordinary Group E. Should they do so, their passage to the semis avoids all of the big guns.

    Championship Review: 2023/24 Season

Join @TonyIncenzo each week for his Championship review, with a look at the biggest moments in the latest round of games in England's second tier...

THE regular fixtures in our 2023/24 EFL Championship saga have come to an end capping 10 months of brilliant entertainment.

Leicester City were worthy champions, Ipswich Town secured that second automatic promotion ranking and a lexicon of newsworthy stories enriched proceedings. Here is my 2023/24 review…

    LAUDABLE LEICESTER

Leicester City cemented an immediate return to Premier League status after one year’s absence thereby satisfying Championship betting patterns.

They triumphed in 31 League engagements amassing 97 points overall. The Foxes actually clinched promotion without playing on Friday 26th April because fellow top two hopefuls Leeds United lost 4-0 away to Queens Park Rangers.

Three nights later, Enzo Maresca’s men sealed the Championship crown courtesy of cruising 3-0 at Preston North End. It has been an outstanding success story for ex-Manchester City assistant coach Maresca following his unveiling on 16th June 2023 succeeding interim boss Dean Smith on a three year contract.

The Italian said at the time: “Leicester have a huge season approaching and we need to play as well as we can from the very start to win games. Our philosophy will build on a daily basis. The fans deserve everyone giving 100%.”

His leading marksman turned out to be 37 year old former England international striker Jamie Vardy with 20 League and Cup goals. Vardy is currently discussing a new contract.

    IPSWICH GOING UP

Back to back promotions for Ipswich Town defied betting odds. Second spot was gloriously captured on the season’s final day beating visitors Huddersfield Town 2-0.

The Suffolk club haven’t graced Premier League action since 2001/02. They delivered tremendous entertainment all campaign hitting the net 92 times to become divisional foremost scorers.

Indeed, the 23 EFL encounters staged at Portman Road dished up 91 goals (59 for, 32 against). Their only home defeat was 4-3 at the hands of Leeds United on Saturday 26th August 2023

Thousands of delighted fans lined local streets for Monday’s open top bus parade celebration. Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna said: “Everyone deserves this promotion. The supporters kept so loyal for years and my players worked really hard.

“We just set out to be as good as we possibly could on the pitch. We were so glad to round it off well with an amazing achievement. What a journey for us!”

    RELEGATION DENOUEMENT

Rock bottom Rotherham United finished 24 points adrift mustering merely five victories during 2023/24. Relegation was confirmed early on 5th April when they lost 1-0 at home to Plymouth Argyle.

However, the remaining two drop zone places weren’t settled until the last day where five teams were still in the frame. Blackburn Rovers, Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth Argyle all consequently stayed above the dreaded dotted line by winning their concluding matches.

Alas the Championship says goodbye to Huddersfield Town - who lost 2-0 at Ipswich Town - and Birmingham City, in spite of the 1-0 home conquest of Norwich City. For Blues, sacking head coach John Eustace in October was a total disaster.

Eustace had just reached sixth in the table after a convincing 3-1 derby win past West Bromwich Albion. An official statement explaining the strange decision mentioned “the importance of implementing a winning mentality and a culture of ambition across the entire football club.”

Wayne Rooney duly came in but was fired on 2nd January reflecting nine defeats in his 15 game tenure. Tony Mowbray became the next appointment before being forced to step away on 19th February due to ill health so Gary Rowett then fulfilled an interim role.

Birmingham City chairman Tom Wagner has subsequently issued an open letter to supporters stating: “Despite the disappointment of relegation, our steadfast commitment to the Blues and our loyal fans and community stands unwavering.

“This season has illuminated numerous challenges and opportunities for improvement. Embracing these realities, we remain resolute in our pursuit of positive change, both on and off the pitch.”

Roland Garros Predictions and Betting Tips for 2024

Novak Djokovic and Iga Świątek are looking to defend their singles titles at the 2024 French Open.

Carlos Alcaraz and Świątek are the tennis betting favourites in the men’s and women’s singles draws – Djokovic and Rafael Nadal are bound to be the focus of numerous Roland Garros predictions, however, while plenty of players will be gunning for Świątek’s crown.

The second Grand Slam of the year – and the only one on clay – attracts millions of viewers from all over the world.

Tennis experts will be making their French Open betting predictions in the build up to the first round of matches. Fans will be keeping a close eye on the form book before the draws are made.

    Roland Garros Tips 2024

There is a lot to consider with French Open predictions. Novak Djokovic and Iga Swiatek top their respective world rankings.

Betting markets favour Carlos Alcaraz over Djokovic in the men’s draw, however, while Świątek slipped up in Stuttgart to start off the clay-court season. She was also upset by Linda Noskova in the round of 32 at the Australian Open earlier this year.

Casper Ruud, who beat Alcaraz and Stefanos Tsitsipas before losing to Djokovic in the 2023 final, is out at 11/1 with 888Sport at the time of writing.

Despite falling to Cameron Norrie in the last 32 in Melbourne earlier this year, Ruud is one of the form players as the tour heads to Paris. Impressive showings in Monte Carlo and Barcelona are a reminder of his talent on clay.

Rafael Nadal is in at 6/1. The Spaniard is the most successful player in French Open history, but he’s not getting the backing in our Roland Garros tips.

Nadal has admitted he’s still facing ‘limitations’ from his various injuries. He’s not even sure he will compete in the French Open. At this price, there’s no value – it’s more likely he retires in 2024 than wins a Grand Slam.

World number two Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff are the only women shorter than 10/1. Świątek, who has won three of the last four French Opens, has an almost 3,000-point lead atop the WTA rankings.

Elena Rybakina won in Stuttgart and reached the final in Miami. While her record at Roland Garros means she’s going to be an afterthought in some French Open predictions, Rybakina has been playing excellent tennis of late.

After a career-best semi-final appearance at Roland Garros in 2023, we would keep an eye on Sabalenka. She won the 2024 Australian Open, and had the best year of her career in 2023. Clay isn’t her favourite surface, but she will be full of confidence coming into this tournament.

If you want to steer clear of Alcaraz and Świątek in the outright betting markets, Ruud and Sabalenka are two players we would consider backing. We would also think about Jannik Sinner, particularly if his price lengthens in the lead up to the opening round.
