Alessia Russo is an England international forward, who has played for the North Carolina Tar Heels, Chelsea, Brighton and Manchester United.

Winner of Goal of the Tournament at Euro 2022, Russo starred as the Lionesses won their first ever major trophy. Able to influence online football betting markets, Russo is set to be at the top of the game for years to come.

Often used as a lone striker, Russo is comfortable stretching defences with runs into the channel or dropping deep to create play for others.

Once in possession, the Maidstone native is a willing ball carrier and will often drive at the opposition’s back line. Since starting her youth career with Charlton, Russo has grown into one of the sport’s true stars.

She really made her name with Manchester United, where she has flourished, but it was confirmed in June 2023 that she will be leaving the Red Devils. Let’s learn a bit more about Russo…

Net Worth

Precise figures for Alessia Russo net worth are hard to come by. Estimates range from the £1 million mark up to around £3 million.

Russo’s earnings might not have been confirmed, but we can be relatively confident that she has been on a decent salary during her few seasons with Manchester United.

Alongside the on-field income, Russo is bound to have amassed some cash through endorsement deals, particularly after her part in England’s Euros glory.

Through the tournament, Russo’s Instagram following increased by almost 50,000, many of which came following her spectacular backheel against Sweden. Russo became the first female European sports ambassador for Beats, and has partnered with KFC.

James Marshall, who manages Russo’s PR and media, was pleasantly surprised by how much interest there was in Russo after the Euros, but noted that they still need to be selective.

Marshall added, “Alessia has just done a feature with Grazia magazine that she probably wouldn’t have got if she didn’t score that backheel. It has changed their lives.”

On her way to becoming one of England’s greatest ever players, Russo is destined for plenty of endorsement income throughout the rest of her career.

Alessia Russo Partner

Alessia Russo is not currently in a relationship. Interest in the love lives of the Lionesses soared after their Euros win, but there have been no reports about Alessia Russo having a partner.
Manchester United

Alessia Russo signed with Manchester United in 2020, scoring 27 goals in 59 appearances for the club. Russo has had the opportunity to play alongside several of her England teammates, including best fried Ella Toone

In the summer of 2023, however, news broke that United were waving goodbye to Russo, with a move to Arsenal apparently on the cards. Lyon and Chelsea have both shown interest in the past.

United head coach Marc Skinner spoke earlier in the year about Russo’s future.

“There is a lot of love in our team for Alessia and she reciprocates that, she knows how important she is to us.

“What we’ve had to do is sweep away some of the noise around and just get her focusing – all credit to her, she has done that.

“Alessia is a super-talented person. Us internally – you will judge her from the outside on goals and assists – but nothing has really ever changed, she has just continued to work hard. That’s how we’ll keep working with her and hopefully we can keep her at the club.”

Having grown from gifted young player to one of the world’s most in-demand players during her time at the club, United have a huge void to fill.

Ella Toone Friendship

Alessia Russo is very close friends with former Manchester United teammate and fellow Lioness Ella Toone.

The pair both played integral roles in England’s success at the Euros – they are two of the biggest names in football betting

In an interview alongside Toone, Russo spoke openly about their friendship.

“There are so many highs and lows in football and to have a constant in your best friend throughout that is really nice. We've seen each other at our best and worst.

“We’ve had the highest of highs last summer winning the Euros together, and had some tough points too, but that just makes the friendship stronger. We've been friends since we were 12 or 13, and we'll be friends forever.”

Prior to Russo’s Manchester United departure being confirmed, Toone said, “We’re joined at the hip…we’re best friends. We love playing together and being around each other, and we love each other’s company,” Toone said of Russo.

“That will never change, no matter where Alessia is. As a friend I will always be proud of what she does and goes on to achieve.

“Right now, we’re at England camp and spending every day together. We’re playing football together and that’s the main thing. For now, it’s just enjoying now together and whatever happens, happens.”
