Thousands upon thousands of racehorses run throughout a calendar year but unless you’ve won awards for memory retention, you’re going to require a good horse tracker to follow the fortunes of your favourite equine stars.

Naturally the internet is awash with horse trackers and most of the main horseracing websites have their own unique tracking facility.

Some of these tracker services come as part of a paid subscription, but in the main they are generally free.

Why Do I Need A Horse Tracker?

If you want to know when a particular horse you like runs again it really does makes sense to place that horse in a tracker.

As soon as its trainer makes an entry for it and the horse is declared to run, you will personally receive an email reminder in your inbox.

Is there anything more annoying than checking through the horse racing results at the end of the day and spotting a horse that you like has won but you had no idea it was racing?

Well, with a reliable tracking service you will never have to miss a winner again. You simply have to make sure that you act upon the email reminder and actually wager on the horse in the betting.

Which Tracker Should I Use?

The rest of this article looks at the various websites that offer a horseracing tracker service. We will take a look at what you can expect to happen once you sign up with your email address.

My Stable (Sporting Life)

The Sporting Life’s “My Stable” service sends you an e-mail to tell you:

  • The night before any horse you’ve added to your stable runs in the UK or Ireland or any of your trainers and jockeys have declared runners. This is all part of their free subscription.

  • Their fully automated database of all horses in training in the UK and Ireland effortlessly assists you in setting up your stable of horses while also giving you the opportunity of staying on top of entries and runners from your favourite stables and jockeys.

  • By registering can also receive access to their complete video form archive and have the ability to receive notifications of race results. This excellent service is available completely free-of-charge on www.sportinglife.com.

My Timeform Tracker (Timeform)

The My Timeform Tracker is a flexible notes and alerts facility that allows you to personalise your form study.

  • You can make your own notes on any of the horses in the Timeform database and choose to receive alerts when the horse is declared to run in Britain or Ireland.

  • You can view your notes on any of the areas of the site linked to Race Passes or via the Tracker button on the My Timeform homepage.

What is great about this tracker is you don't even need to be a subscribed customer to use the features - the only requirement for My Timeform is that you are registered in order to use it.

Attheraces (part of Sky Sports Racing)

You should never miss a winner again on the horse racing calendar with the ATR Tracker service. You can add up to 500 of your favourite horses and eye-catchers to your tracker list and they’ll email you when they are declared to run.

You can choose to receive updates just for the next start, for the next three starts, or as a permanent alert whenever the horse is declared as well as storing your own comments.

*Emails are sent overnight the day before the race.  The service covers UK, Irish and French races only.

Racing UK Tracker

The Racing TV Tracker is an essential tool for racing fans. You can add an unlimited number of your favourite horses, or eye-catchers and they will email or send you a push notification when:

  • Your horse is entered in a race

  • Declared to run or deemed a non-runner

  • Any related news stories about your horse, including horse racing tips

  • The result of the race your horse has run in

  • A summary of which horses in your tracker are running the night before and in the morning

You can also determine which notifications you want to receive and they claim that their notifications are faster than any other service in the market. They even allow you to make detailed notes on each of your tracked horses.

888Sport Betfinder

Although it’s not a tracker in the true sense of the word, the Betfinder tool is a great way of filtering information to find horses to follow and the punt on.

Using the 888Sport Betfinder tool, you can narrow down the choices of horses by filtering based on variables such as:

  • Winner last time out

  • Placed last time out

  • Winner in their last 3 races

  • Placed in their last 3 races

  • Course winner

  • Distance winner

  • Course & distance winner

  • Beaten the Fav last time out

This tool is ideal if you fancy having a bet on Cheltenham or any other of the big race meetings.

Racing Post Tracker

As up to 1,000 horses can be tracked on the Racing Post system, they have made locating horses in your stable easier by installing a filter system.

You can now sort your horses to follow list by Flat, Jumps, hurdlers, chasers, two-year olds, three-year olds and older horses.

You can also sort your saved horses out by trainer, age and RPR (Racing Post Rating) - or alphabetically or by date added if you prefer.

The Racing Post’s latest tracker format enables you to view more details about your list in one view, and it is now easier to make notes on each horse.

A “Big Races” tab is also quite handy so you know well in advance if one of your horses has a big-race entry.
